I'm going back to liquids

I've had a pretty rough week with trying new solid foods. My new tummy is worn out and is not playing well with the food I'm feeding it. So I'm giving it a break for a couple days. I'm going to focus on protein shakes, soft purees and soup for the next couple days so things will be relaxed again. I've found that warm drinks really settle my stomach, so I've been doing my protein shakes as Hot Cocoa (recipe in profile). It's much easier and tastes so yummy! Just thought I'd share... Pam

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I'm having difficulty with progressing back to "normal" foods, whatever that is, myself. I think for some of us, it's just going to be a longer road back. Take care of yourself. It sounds like you know exactly what you need. ~Shirley

What have you been trying? My pouchie liked cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, egg drop soup. The next level my pouchie liked shrimp dipped in salsa, scallops cooked in butter spray and a little garlic, S/P, Talapia (as long as it wasn't overcooked!!!). Since your pouch is not happy, it is a good idea to give it a break for a few days. Be sure to still get in your proteins, supplements, and water. MTT

Hi Mary - I was REALLY pushing the limits of my eating the week before I took a break. I was eating things I wasn't cleared for (ham, pork tenderloin, beef, etc.) and definitely fell into a couple bad habits of not chewing well enough or eating too fast. It was all those crazy Christmas parties and buffets filled with foods that I wasn't suppose to be eating. When you've got a long buffet of food and there's nothing on it you can "legally" eat, you try to find something that'll work, I guess. But after about a day and a half on liquids my pouch was happy again and I was feeling MUCH better. Since then I've been more careful with chewing well and taking my time eating. And haven't had any further problems. I just had my 6-week follow up appointment yesterday (I'm actually 7 weeks out) and have been cleared to eat pretty much whatever I want to try. (Except grapefruit, oranges, pineapple or other similar citrus fiberous fruit -- for another month or so.) I need to do a better job of trying seafood. It sounds like you've got a few great tricks up your sleeve. It seems like I'm not a very good cook when it comes to seafood ---- I love it when I order it at a restaurant though. Maybe a cooking class is in order. Fun! Pam
