Weight loss to date?
Hi All,
Well, I had surgery on Oct. 16, And I am down only 30lbs. I started out at 261, and I have hit about four stalls, some even 2-3weeks at a time.
I have complained to my doctor, nut, and OH family and they all tell me the same things:
1. You are a "light weight". So you will not lose as much as people who weigh much more than you.
2. I work out with a personal trainer 3 times a week. Muscle weighs more than fat, so count your inches. Plus, you'll look better in the long run.
3. You are doing great. Everybody loses at a different rate.
4. Most people include their pre- op lost with their post-op lost. Differentiate people!! You have the rest of us going crazy trying to figure out what's wrong!
Those are not the answers that I wanted to hear, but it helps to understand. I thought that I was doing something wrong. But there are some "light weights" that are down 40-50lbs that had surgery the same time as myself.
I guess the main thing is that we will all cross the finish line, but at different times. So please don't be discouraged everybody, but yall did make me feel better because I felt that I was alone!
I had my surgery on 11/19...Since the surgery I have lost 24lbs in just over six weeks...I haven't lost that much weight in such a short time since I was in my twenties, so I am VERY happy (I'm at a total of 40lbs including pre-surgery losses)...We need to look at the good things other than the number on the scale...How loose your pants are, how the knees ache less when walking up/down the stairs...For me, today was a great day when a co-worker who I don't know well asked if I had lost weight...That actually made my day! These are the things I keep closer to me than the number on the scale, which is why I don't get caught up on weighing myself every day either...it will make you crazy! This is a long marathon, not a sprint! Keep the faith everyone...we're in this for the long haul!
