I got banded on 11/7/07, I am noticing wonderful changes in my body. I started working out last week and will go today (I have slacked this week due to end of semester work and Aunt Flo crampalicious days and nights). I have my first fill on Monday! I can feel the port so it will most likely be a quick poke. Hugs and support for all of us, Rose in MI

I got my surgery on 11/7/07 also, although mine was lap rny. Life is really different now. I've lost 22 pounds and I'm feeling like a human again. ~Shirley

I was banded on November 16, 2007. I have lost 20 pounds and had my second fill yesterday. My clothes fit better and I am able to button my suits and zip my skirts without them feeling like a girdle. I am doing well but could do better. I have heard that the third fill is the best and look forward to it. The most dedicated thing that I do is exercise daily on my treadmill for 30 minutes. I look forward to the day that I am unable to eat even though I don't eat half as much as I did before surgery. Hugs right back to you and the rest of of the banders out there. Z in Kentucky

Hi there. I just found this message board. I was banded on November 2, 2007 and have lost 30lbs so far. I've been struggling these past two weeks because my appetite has grown, but luckily I go in for my second fill on Jan 3rd. It's nice to meet all of you.... Cristina Mukilteo, WA

Hi lapbanders. I get confused when I read stories from people who had bypass surgery vs. lapband so it is good to get some feed back from people who have the band. I am scheduled for surgery Feb. 27th. I go tomorrow for my xrays and psychologist visit. The doctor says I will be on medifast for 5 weeks before surgery apparently all liquid . Sounds like most of the people I read about only do the liquids for a couple weeks. He said I should lose about 25 lbs. before surgery. I have been somewhat nervous about the whole thing but realize now that it is a tool I need. I just hope it works. I say I am going to diet everyday and I give into cravings so I know I need this. I need to lose about 100 lbs. How does this happen to us and some people eat and eat and never gain. They have no idea how lucky they are. I do have a couple questions. What is the psychologist visit about and with the band how soon can you excercise. Do you have to worry about the band or port slipping? Thanks, Nancy in NY

Hey there Nancy, I was banded on 12/10. I was a "cash" patient so I was only on a liquid diet 24 hours before surgery! That was the cool thing. The bad part was I never got to sit down with the psychologist or a nutritionist so I am flying blind. I think the risk of side effects is worth the feeling when the scale drops 5-10-15-20 pounds! Good luck and hope everything goes well for you!!

To all of you that responded to me, thank you, you sure have boosted my spirits when needed most. I guess if I didn't do the medifast I may not lose as much before the surgery so I guess when it is over I will be happy. Thanks so much for the encouragement. I am now 5 days on medifast with a broth each day to keep me sane haha and it is alittle better. Thanks and stay on the site as I think we can help each other. Nancy in NY
