anyone have pain when you eat ?????
HI all Im three weeks post op and started on soft diet but dosent matter when I eat or what I eat it attachs me with isnstant pain sometimes doubling me over I vomit and some times it reduces the pain but seems to be there all the time can any one tell me if they have had the same thing ?? I really am in pain here and seems to be getting my spirits down Im so anixous but if this is the way its suppose to feel Im not sure I can stand this pain!
Based on what I have read on other forums, the first thing I would ask is, are you chewing enough? We want to be sure there are no lumps whatsoever when we swallow, and make sure there is some moisture in our food. That's why some say to stay away from mashed pots right away, because they are thick, and we'll tend to not let them "dilute" in our mouths before we swallow.
My second consideration would be a stricture. Maybe you healed up too well, and now your little opening is just too little.
If you can comfortably eliminate chewing as the source of you problem, call your surgeon. It's not supposed to be painful. Remember, pain is your body's way of telling you there is a problem.
Hi Margaret-
I am three weeks out tomorrow (11/19/07) and have been on ground proteins for about four days so far...I would echo Christi's suggestion of making sure you have chewed things thoroughly...The only "blip" I have had was yesterday when I was eating some deli turkey and got distracted from my chewing duties and probably swallowed a little too much...I did not vomit, but did have a gas/heartburn type pain for over 20 minutes following that...If you are chewing well, I would contact your surgeon first thing in the morning...there could be a problem...
Good luck and try to stay positive!

i started my soft diet today my husband went to boston market so I had him to get me a chicken breast and sweet potatoe souffle and creamed spinach. I took the chicken peeled the skin off took the meat off the bone and put it in the blender with BBQ sauce so it wouldn't be dry and puree it . I dad a couple teaspoons of each and was full.
but I haven't had any pain at all from eating in fact the chicken just melted in my mouth.
