Post Surgery

Well, the day has come and the day of surgery has gone!! Gone very well, I might say. I had surgery on the 20th of November and all has gone very smooth. I had expected a lot of discomfort, but I have experienced very little. The most discomfort I have felt is in my throat from the tube placed there during surgery. I am on my second day of clear liquids and all is doing fine. I would hope the rest goes as well, but I'm sure there are rough spots other there some where. Its Thanksgiving Day and even though I'm not having a great big meal, or a small one for that matter, I have a lot to be thankful for. May you all have a Happy Thanksgiving and be especially be thankful for what we have to share and give to each other.

Ralph: Congratulations on your surgery. I'm so glad that you're feeling good and doing well with the liquids. I totally understand what you mean about the sore throat - how annoying is that?! Yes, we've all got lots to be thankful for today and I didn't miss the big meal either. Happy Thanksgiving! Pam

Thanks and same to you. I had the gastric bypass on the 12th of november and the pain was there but I dealt with it pretty well. I haver had the mind games of wanting to eat what everyone else had but I know if I did, I would have the devil to pay. My wife got a pureer machine and has grinded up turkey, ham and mashed potatoes and I have had soups as well so there is life after wards. I have lost 20 lbs since then and I feel much much better!! It does det easier and it doesn't have to mean the end of your foods that you like just smaller amounts. I wish you the best of luck in your new experience and remember, you are not alone! Congrat!! I'm post op 3 weeks I had surgery nov 7th an open RNY I have some discomfort from the incision but all is good with me also I'm so glad you mentioned how much we have to be thankful for because I know I do I had major problems during surgery and I am thankful for just being here and family and friends as support along with the thanks I give to the dr's that has saved my life and gave me a whole new one.. gl take care cathy
