Milk of Magnesia is what my nutritionist recommended. If one dose doesn't do the trick, try another. If it continues, definitely call your doctor's office for a recommendation. Pam

The advice I can suggest is that my physician put me on colace post op. The day I came home (3rd day post op), I went but did not go for another 5 days. Remember, you are not eating much, and your gut is trying to adjust. Now, I do go about every other day, but I do eat and drink a lot of yogurt products with the cultures. If you are still taking pain pills, they are constipating! I would call the Dr before I would do drastic measures like you have suggested though. Good luck, Phyllis

April, I had RNY on the 13th and have yet to have a bowel movement. I don't feel any discomfort and just assumed that it was because I've only been drinking liquids. I was given Colace as a prescription right out of the hospital and that hasn't done much for me! If you feel discomfort I would definately give your doctor a call! good Luck! Julie

I am post op 1 week+ and I am having the same problem. I was debating calling the dr today to ask. I feel likesuch a nudge to the dr. But this is all so new to me and I tend to be a bit high strung, lol, with medical stuff for myself.
