This will be you saying this so very soon
Okay gang,
Since I'm kind of adopting this November 07 board, I feel the need to share a few of my major struggles and victories to give you a taste of what YOU will be enjoying very shortly. YES...with determination and patience, this will be your story in just a few short months. I'm telling you, this will happen faster than you can prepare your mind for what is going to happen. Okay..so here it goes....plug your ears...
Woooooo Hooooooo
I finally did it. I hit the 100 pound century milestone this morning and I'm pretty happy. I lost 36 pounds from January through the middle of May as a pre-oper. Then, since I started the WLS process On May 21st with my liquid diet, I've lost exactly 64 more pounds for my total of 100. It still seems like some kind of dream. I can't believe that the scale balanced EXACTLY at the 100 pounder mark this morning.
Then, to boot, my regular weigh-in day, today happened to fall on my 45th birthday. So, I had the best birthday present anyone in my shoes could ever ask for.
I weighed 247 this morning and my next milestone is the 228 to 227 transition when I will no longer be called OBESE and turn to the overweight level. Then, I'm off to Onederland.
Have a great week everyone.
John

Happy birthday! This is going to be so encouraging--I am brand new to the site/message boards. Have all of the pre-op appts. scheduled and have started on the pre-op diet: replacing 1 meal w/a bariatric liquid diet drink...will be shooting for 2 meals replaced as the date gets closer.
Nice to hear so many happy stories--and I can't wait to be in your shoes John!
Ellen,
Thanks for the nice b'day wishes. I'm very happy to hear that you are making the most of your time before the surgery. Try the best you can to get as much weight off as you can before surgery. I wasn't sure it was going to be worth it, but getting the jump on those extra 36 pounds for me has really been a big help. I am a BIG advocate for getting weight off before surgery because from what I have read, statitistically people who take the bull by the horns early on have far better success rates....and we do want everyone here with November dates to be successful.
They also say that the first 6 months will be the best months to get the weight off before the honeymoon stage wears off. So far, I'm 3 1/2 months into it and I still enjoy the luxury of the honeymoon stage. I could eat twice as much as I do, but I choose to keep my diet in the 900 calorie range. The pouch is like a sausage stuffing machine; if you pack more in, the intestine acts like the sausage casing. The biggest thing that people should be sure that they understand going into this is if you are determined to make it work, it will. If you want to beat the surgery, you can drink high calorie liquids all day and/or graze all day. You seem well on your way to being on the other side of that pendulum and headed for success.
Good luck to you and I look forward to having you over here on the losers bench. Can you imagine, my brother calls me up and calls me a big loser...and I like it?
John
