This board is sure going to get busy...
Hi all you Novemberites,
It won't be long and many people will be posting this and that like mad on this board. You'll discuss things that range from how nervous you are to what your dreams are for after your surgery. It is an exciting time, so sit back and enjoy the ride.
With your permission, I've decided to informally adopt the "November 2007 Surgery Date" board and keep checking in with you folks. At the end of November I will be 6 months post op and remember how helpful the veterans were in guiding me along my journey. Now it is time to repay for all of the useful information I've accumulated from others who have gone before me. If you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to answer to the best of my ability.
I'll also post any ideas I have to better help you prepare. I was an active part of the "May 2007 Surgery Date" board and we even had regular chats set up each week during the last few weeks of April and the whole month of May. What you do will depend on your own interests.
Let the fun begin.
John
Hi Tim,
Congratulations on becoming a Novemberite. I had my RNY in May and I have been VERY please with the result so far. I have lost 95 pounds (lost 36 before the surgery process in order to be as healthy as I could for the actual surgery) and I'm hoping to hit the 100 pound mark this week or perhaps next week. The numbers are not as important to me as my quality of life is just so much better.
I do keep up with my blog on my profile so if you click on my name right at the top of this post, it will take you to my blog/journal and you will find out a bit more about my journey.
You can learn a lot by visiting the message board of the type of surgery you are having. Of course you will find all of those by clicking on the word "Forums" on the tool bar at the top.
Tim, if you have any more questions, I'll be happy to help you out...
...anyone else????
John
P.S. Sorry about taking such a long time to reply, but I had been regularly checking in with the board, but just missed that you had replied.
Hi John and all the Novemberites. I am scheduled for the 26th as the last patient of the day. I have just started the process and am waiting for approval from my insurance company. I hope it goes easily, that we are talking insurance....
I am kind of a hypercondriac and I am nervous about how I will feel after the RNY surgery. I already suffer a bit from heart palpitations, extreme weakness, etc. when I go without food when my blood sugar goes down. I am worried that it will be worse after the surgery. Is this easy to overcome with diet? Does it last a long time? I think they call it dumping syndrome and these are a few of the symptoms.
I originally was thinking of doing the lap band but after discussing the RNY with my surgeon and the chances that my body will not like sugar and fats I thought I would like to take the chance and hopefully not tolerate sugar. That is my biggest down fall, sweets!
Thanks so much for volunteering to be our support!
Hugs
Lynn
