Made it Home and I am a Grandma!!!!!
It was a great trip..... I didn't get to see my grandson born because they needed to do a c-section on my DIL, but I was right across the hall and I heard those first cries.... It was so incredible..... The first time I saw him and held him I cried... I was such and amazing feeling.... I have put a couple pictures up on my profile... He is just adorable.... He looks just like his daddy did when he was a baby.... Evan William is his name and he was 7 pounds 15.7 ounces..... 20-1/2 inches long.. born on 7/25/08 at 6:28 pm.....
I am so glad I was able to be there... If my mom had not paid for the gas and used her vehicle to get us down there, I wouldn't have had the chance to experience such a wonderful time.... I am so grateful to have such a caring mom..... Plus my son may be deployed to Iraq in the next few weeks so it meant a lot to me to get to see him again before he has to be shipped out....
Well anyway... I had to share my joy with all of you...
Oh and over the past two weeks I only gained 2 pounds.... that was really good considering all that I ate plus I forgot my thyroid meds and didn't have them for almost 2 weeks.... I also spent 4 days eating hospital food and chips and pop.... So I was pretty glad that I ONLY had gained 2 pounds.... Now to get back on track and I am sure it will be gone in no time.....
It took us 23 hours of driving to get down there... and 20 hours to get back (we took a different route coming home).... I am sooooooo tired.... I am off to bed... just had to share with my extended family......
HUGS to all,
Shawn M.
Thanks again Britt!!!! I couldn't wait to get home to my own computer though and be able to share my joy with my family here.... I did have access to a computer while I was there, but it was very limited since there were 4 of us using the same one... Plus I spent a lot of time up at the hospital with my son and his wife and Evan after he was born....
She had been transferred to another hospital because Evan had an irregular heartbeat... The hospital they were at was 5 minutes from their house.. The hospital they transferred her to was 2-1/2 hours away (136 miles one way).... So me and my son stayed up at the hospital the whole time and slept in chairs.... uggghhh... I was soooooo tired when they discharged her on Sunday afternoon.... But I was so glad that I was able to be there....
Well, I gotta go get ready for church...Talk to you soon...
HUGS,
Shawn M.
