RMR results
I had my RMR tested today and i am sharing the results. I had this done about 6 months ago and wanted to get it tested again.
this test was done using the BODY GEM device at my local YMCA
Here are the #"s
RMR was 1570
I said my lifestyle was active which equals 2.3 mets
I figured 10 hours per day / 70 per week I am "working" as a stay at home Mom
so 1570 (RMR) X .542 (FACTOR) = 850.94
850.94 + 1570 = 2420.94 (TOTAL ENERGY EXPENDITURE BEFORE EXERCISE)
2800 (# of calories on average burned per week with exercise)
400 (calories on aver per day burned per day with exercise)
400 (calories burned per day) + 2420 (total energy before exercise ) = 2820 (TOTAL ENERGY METABOLISM)
So if I do not exercise I should take in 2420 to maintain my weight.
If I do exercise I should take in 2820 to maintain my weight.
Can you believe how high the#'s are ?????????
I had the test done last on 9/20/07 at my surgeons office using the Ree/Vue indirect caloricmeter...
the results then were
maintenance zone was 1973 to 2564
weight loss zone was 1579 to 1973
So the numbers are up - - which means I have lean muscle
I don't know ... It seems like a lot of calories to take in?????
So confusing!!!!!!!
But those are the numbers. I will havet To talk to a few people and do a bit more research and see what I find.
ANY THOUGHTS / COMMENTS? PLEASE SHARE

Britt
Britt,
I had the Body Gem test done several years ago. It was when I had lost 124 pounds but started regaining some and I was desperately trying to figure out why and what to do. About all I remember at this point (without trying to search for the print out!) is that I should eat about 1500 to lose weight. At that point, I was exercising like a fiend so I was a little shocked that it wasn't more even though I already knew from experience that my body prefers lower calorie in order to lose weight. Well, while your tests say you can take in more calories, if I were you, I would add them slowly and carefully with WLS in mind. I know you use FitDay so you can keep good track of it and notice changes. Hey, our bodies are a little strange with food intake anyway, aren't they? My husband can eat the worst foods in creation for a week and not gain one ounce and I could take 2 bites and gain!

Hi CeCe,
Yeah believe me i am taking this SLOW and steady. I just want to find that *sweet psot* that magical mantenance caloric intac # for me.
Once I am back ata goal ...
I am going to start to bump up the calories 100 per day for a week. If i lose i'll bump it another 100 and so on.
Thanks for your input - this can really make a girl crazy!!! lol
How r u feeling?
thanks again,
Britt
Britt,
Your plan sounds like a good, safe one! Hope you find the sweet spot and it's actually higher calorie than you would think!!!
I'm feeling very well! In fact, I've been to the gym the last 2 days and plan on going back to work next week but will be limited - still can't really lift weights (upper body). I'm doing lots of cardio right now and some lower body stuff. This surgery has been so much easier (knock on wood!) than the lower. Now, had I not had the complications, the last one might not have been so tough. Wanda sure seemed to recover quickly that time. The only complaint I have right now is my blasted SI joint again. It keeps popping out of place and we can't seem to get it back in or get it to stay in. I'm sorely tempted to have that series of injections that is supposed to "glue" it in place. You have to go under an ultrasound to do that and they injections have to be 10 days apart and you have to be able to lay on your stomach and that's not too easy right now with my wonderful new lifted breasts right now, which, by the way, are looking really good!!! I think I now understand why women with boob jobs seem to be so willing to show theirs!! New boobs are more like an accessory than a body part! I guess you don't feel like they are a part of you yet - just something to be looked at!! Silly, but true. I mean I even have pictures of them!!!!!!

I had my RMR tested today with the Body Gem device at my local YMCA.
After speaking with a few people who are familiar with these #'s I have made a few adjustments - with my lifestyle and activity level.
Here are the #"s
RMR was 1570
I said my lifestyle which equals 1.8 mets
1570 (RMR) X .190 (FACTOR) = 298.3
298.3 + 1570 = 1868.3 (TOTAL ENERGY EXPENDITURE BEFORE EXERCISE)
2100 (# of calories on average burned per week with exercise)
300 (calories on aver per day burned per day with exercise)
300 (calories burned per day) + 1868 (total energy before exercise ) = 2168 (TOTAL ENERGY METABOLISM)
So if I do not exercise I should take in 1868 to maintain my weight.
If I do exercise I should take in 2168 to maintain my weight.
I had the test done last on 9/20/07 at my surgeons office using the Ree/Vue indirect caloricmeter...
the results then were
maintenance zone was 1973 to 2564
weight loss zone was 1579 to 1973
So according to this new test ... If I want to lose I should eat between 868 - 1168 calories???
I don't know ...
So confusing!!!!!!!
But those are the numbers. I will havet o talk to a few people and do a bit more research and see what I find.
What people are suggesting ...
* Eat at my RMR 1570 - to lose than once where I am at where I want to be slowly add to find my *sweet spot* the # where *I* maintain.
* Calorie Cycling -
* My nutritionist says whatever i am eatting currently subtract 500 calories a day to lose.

Britt
