Weekly Weigh In week of 3/24/08
Hi Everyone!
Happy S*p*r*i*n*g* yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Sorry, I wasn't around last week. As you know we had another week of *sick days* here ...so tiring. I hope that all of you had a nice Easter (if you celebrate it). My daughters had a ball!!!! It is so grea****ching them experience the wonder of the holidays. They are so cute!!!
I finally got back to the gym on Friday, I was happy to be back, but I could tell I wasn't there for a week. It is amazing - how used your body get to exercise and how easy it could be to get out of your exercise routine. I am running another 5k this coming Sunday. I've inspired a few ladies from my support group to run their *very first run* -I am going to run right beside them and encourage them all the way to the finish line. I am running another 5k race in April and I will compete (against me) at that race.
This is going to be a rough week (especially today).... We had to find a new home for our dog "Spencer" (a shih-tzu) - He is not good with our kids. We have known this for a while and been hoping things would change, they haven't!!! My kids love Spencer - he doesn't feel the same - it is an accident waiting to happen. So we found a new home for him and she is coming tonight to pick him up. We got him as a puppy in 2000 and he was *our baby* once the kids came he wasn't a happy camper and only liked adults. Kids = less attention to Spencer.
I am an emotional eater and know this is going to be a challenging week! *please keep me in your prayers* I am determined to lose this week - not gain!
My weight is still the same. I have to go to my surgeon Thursday and see a *gain* on his scale. I NOT happy about that! But I *KNOW* I have to go.
I have made up my mind, to be serious and *get back to basics* I feel *gross* with these extra pounds on me and I have to get rid of those lil buggers!
anyway ...enough about *me*
Tell me / us ....
How are you doing? What is going on? Are you on track? Off track? Exercising? Not? Happily Maintaining? Struggling?

Good morning fellow November buddies,
Well, as you know, I recommitted myself last week to this new lifestyle. I have improved drastically in my eating of the right foods and stay away from the bad food choices. And I did so good last week, really sticking to what I was supposed to be eating. I even had two sessions with my personal trainer and two sessions of intense cardio. BUT, unfortunately, the scale does not agree....
Weight day of surgery = 312.4
Last week = 186.6
This week = 190.4
Loss this week = +3.8 (gain, ugh)
Total Loss = 122.0
Current BMI = 31.6
I am determined to have a better week!! I WILL stay focused!! C'mon, say it with me, stay focused, stay focused, stay........
Hope everyone has a better week,

Deidrah, every time I start exercising again after being away from it, I gain. I haven't exercised for awhile because of my injured hand and I LOST weight but GAINED a size! I'm going to start back, but I know it will cause me to gain weight--and I'm ok with that! I would rather the scale say a higher number than me wear a higher number!
Hang in there! You are doing the right things!
Wanda
Thanks, Wanda! That is really encouraging!! I refuse to give up and I will keep pushing along until that scale budges!!
I know my workouts are doing me good, I've never slept so good! She is pushing me to my limits, more than I would push myself. So I know it's just a matter of time before that scale caves in to MY demands!! hahahahaha
Thanks much for the support and encouragement,
Deidrah
Deidrah,
If you know you ate right last week and you worked out 4 intense sessions, don't stress the gain this week. It is my experience that exercising can/will make you gain a bit untill your body figures out what is going on. It is that pesky survival gene passed down to us from our ancestors. Low caloric intake + physical activity = body reserving all intake for the impending famine.
Stick to your exercising and make sure you are getting a ton of protein and water. You will see the results of your re-commitment soon.
Have a great week! Stay strong.
Hugs,
Valorie
Thanks for the encouragement, Valorie!
I know it's tough and it was really hard for me to post that gain but I did it!! I don't want to give up after 1 slow week. I want to keep on and I know that eventually it will turn into great losses!!
Thanks to everyone for the words of support and encouragement. Knowing I have to be accountable to myself and to you all has made a difference with me!
Staying strong for all of us,
Deidrah
Deidrah,
As I'm sure your personal trainer told you, when you work those muscles hard, they get little tears in them and retain fluid to repair and grow. That's where the extra weight comes from and if you'll be patient and stay focused on your path, the scale will reward you. Patience is hard for me and I usually find myself eating emotionally when I don't think the scale is responding, thus defeating myself. So, stay strong, work your program and maybe stay off the scale a few days (again not something I can seem to do!). You are doing great!
