Goal weight pondering

I had an interesting conversation with my husband about goal weight he set a goal weight of 150 for me and he told me that he thought I would be really happy if I weighed 150. The more I thought about it I got kind of mad about it so I asked him last night "Why do you care what I weigh?" That really got him thinking and he told me he was sorry and he really doesn't care what I weigh. So I've been doing a lot of thinking at what weight will I be happy at is it a number on the scale, a size or just being thinner and obviously a lot healthier than prior to surgery. If I stay at the weight I'm at but had plastic surgery I would loose at least 10 pounds of skin so then I would weigh 10 pounds less. So I'm still not sure what would make me happy or will it make me any happier being at a lighter weight. I know the farther out I get the fewer compliments I get and the more afraid I am about gaining the weight back. Am I settling to stay at this weight when I could loose more and later will I regret the fact that I didn't loose all my weight I had to loose? I would love to hear some other people's opinion about this. Deb

This is a life-long process. Your goal can be changed along the way. I remember telling my doctor that I would be happy at 165. When I got to 165, I had long since changed my mind. Be flexible with yourself. A number is just a number. You will know when you are in the right place! Wanda

Deb, Be careful about how you view this. "I'll be happy at this weight..." Just examine how and why you said it. Being happy will not be effected by your weight. Are you happy now? If not I'd look at that. I konw I'm sounding really psyco babbly (is that a word) but it really jumped out to me. I am happy now. I weighed 174 this morning. I think for fun I'd like to see what it would be like to be 155 but...I'll be happy if I never see it. I'd say examine it a little. Love ya, Trudy

Deb, I think if you keep using your tool wisely, your body will determine your "goal" weight. Look at the people who've reached a weight and more or less stabilized (Britt, I'll bet that "Party Retention" 2 pounds is already gone!). Even I have stuck right at 130 pounds when I could fluctuate 3 pounds overnight before! Look how Wanda thought she'd stay at 140 and was satisfied but she lost more. I never dreamed I'd reach 130 pounds again. My body seems to like it here and I do too. So, Deb, don't really even worry about a scale number - just do what you need to do to take care of your body and trust it to find the right place. Oh, yeah, I loved Trudy's reply as well! Good thoughts, Trudy! CeCe
