Update on Trudy

Sorry guys I have been totally lazy the last couple of weeks. I rarely got on the computer. I've been concentrating on recovering and it is working well. I saw my doctor yesterday and he removed the drains (three weeks) --I was thrilled. I had a few stitches left around my belly button and they were removed and then there was another place that had to be drained with a syringe - four huge things full. He things he'll have to do it again. I am still swolen but look so much better it is unbelieveable. I got on a pair of 12 jeans this morning. I never thought I'd get there! I tire easily but otherwise am doing better than I imagined. Love ya'll Trudy

Trudy, Thank you for updating us! I sent you that message because I was worried about you! I remember my doctor trying to drain fluid from me and not getting anything so I don't think having the fluid drained is that uncommon. I'm glad you are doing well other than that. Congrats on getting into smaller sizes!!! YEAH! I still have that blasted open wound but it has been getting better. It heals from the inside out. i still have not even looked at it closely. I've only caught a glimpse of it in the mirror and all I saw was bright red! My husband cleans it and puts soaked gauze in it twice every day. I was supposed to see my PS today but rescheduled the appointment for next week since we have driven about 2,500 miles in the last 2 weeks! Had I seen him today, I would just have to see him next week anyway! However, I started working out again yesterday and even though I used lighter weights and didn't do much ab work, the wound started leaking and my husband said it looked as if it was opening up again. Today I did cardio at Gold's. I got on the treadmill for 30 minutes and the Elliptical for 16. I warmed up well on the treadmill and then started incline work. I didn't think I overdid it because I slowed the speed as I increased the incline. I also didn't go crazy on the Elliptical but afterwards I started feeling the wound pulling and now that I'm home I see it is leaking again. My husband told me if I keep working out like that I'll have to find someone else to take care of the wound!!! I'm very frustrated right now because my energy is back and I WANT TO WORK OUT!!! I taught my class yesterday and used 5 pound weights for biceps and triceps and 10 pounds for chest and only a 9 pound Body Bar. I normally use at least 18. I did do squats, lunges, etc. and a good cardio warm up. Still, using lighter weights should have been enough of a sacrifice!!!! So, Trudy, take care of your incision and rest! Thanks for updating us and don't be such a stranger!!! By the way, is the scale reflecting a big loss yet? If you are still swelling, it may not be a true reflection yet! CeCe

Cece - how horrible I'll bet that is driving you crazy having an open wound! Luckily I am sealed up so I must be doing OK. I know what you mean about the energy though. I want to go go go. My doctor Oked me to do some heavy duty walking so I am going to try to be happy with that for now. His office scale (during the day and dressed) said 176 yesterday - Naked in the morn my said 172 this morning. He wants me to stop loosing. I really need to get some new pictures up. I had originally hoped to loose to about 155 and I really think I could but my face is looking long and thin and I'm afraid that if I loose much more I'll begin to look gaunt. He has been right on so far so I guess I'll continue to do what he wants! With my clothes on you would never know that I have been morbidly obese. Man that sound good have been not am. As we are supposed to I drink all the time. I mean I am a drinking fool - and our bathrooms are out at work today EEEKK. I guess I'l drive to the library again.

Glad to hear you are doing so well Trudy!!! It is great to hear that you got those drains out already... Congrats on getting into those size 12.... I can imagine how thrilled you were to slide those on!!! WTG!!! Keep resting and getting yourself stronger... Hugs, Shawn M.
