Nobody Recognized Me?!

I went to a New Year's Eve party and people didn't know who I was! Not even the people who invited me! I guess it's been awhile since I've seen them. It was so weird to have people that I've known for years come up and introduce themself to me as if we never met!
Does that happen to you too?
Wanda
Wanda,
Isn't that a strange feeling? In a way it hurts because you still recognize yourself! I think I told you that my daughter showed a picture of me (just a HEAD shot) to my mother and older brother several months ago and neither recognized me. Well, when I visited, it wasn't much better. When we got to my mother's assisted living facility apartment, she walked out and just stared at me and she knew I was coming! I was with my husband and daughter. She later said she was just trying to find something familiar about me. The last time I'd seen her I weighed about 40 pounds more but I can barely believe that made such a difference but it must have. At our family party, they all told my aunt to find me and she couldn't - she walked right past me. My daughter filmed my sister's reaction when she saw me. It was really strange to have family members act that way. I don't like attention normally but since the tummy tuck, I've gotten TONS of it and the visit to the family was really over the top! People at the gym have said they didn't recognize me at first but that's different!
Wanda, you haven't mentioned your son who joined the military lately. How is he doing?

Isn't it kind of sad that others only seemed to see our weight before. Without our fat, they don't know who we are!
I bet you are loving your lower body lift. I'm wishing that I had the back side done too. There is still alot of clothes that I can't wear because I have the baggy back. Maybe I will have that done next year (after the face lift!).
You asked about my son--there is a lot going on. As you know, he joined the Army Reserves last spring (80% of Reserve troops are called to active duty so is it really reserves any more?). He had basic training in Oklahoma and then MOS training in Virginia. He came back a changed man. He turned 21 a couple of weeks ago. He took the initiative to sign up at the Aviation Academy in Clearwater. I had the Florida Pre-Paid college for him, but that couldn't be used at this school. So he took the initiative to get grants, the GI bill, and student loans to take care of school. It broke our heart to see him spending 4 hours a day on the road so we set him up in an apartment down there. Randy said that he reminded him of me--once he figured out what he wanted he just made it happen! I'm proud of him!
Welcome home, CeCe. We sure missed you!
Wanda
Thanks for the welcome home, Wanda! It sure feels good to be home and back on our own schedule! All that eating out or eating at other people's houses was getting to me! I swear we got sick of eating (but I still ate way too much!).
What wonderful news about your son! I pray that his unit won't be called up but, as you said, the reserves are doing heavy duty over there. It's also sad to think that regardless of whoever wins the next presidential election, not much is likely to change. I was totally against us ever going into Iraq and the whole thing has made me ill ever since. It's just a total mess for us and the Iraqi people.
On a happier note, has anyone at work said anything about your perky boobs? Or, are you still trying to hide them? Since my tummy tuck, I'm no longer wearing loose tops and my boobs are looking really big (after I lasso them and pull them up into my bra!!!!). A couple of people have asked if I had a boob job along with the tummy tuck!!!

Isn't it amazing how the boobs look bigger when the tummy is flatter?
Two nurses were wondering if I had a breast augmentation. Of course, they didn't ask me. They asked the director of nurses and she shut them down, telling them she wasn't about to discuss the boss's breasts.
That was maybe 3 weeks ago. I haven't heard anything else. But, you know I think for the most part people just think I look thinner. I'm not so sure that it is as noticeable as I feel it is.
I just asked Randy what he thought. He said "yes, it's very noticable!" I guess that blows my theory...
I suppose people know and just have wisely chosen to not discuss it.
