12 Hours in the ER!!!!!
Well, my pain started in my gut on Sunday afternoon.... Monday morning I called my bariatric surgeon... they made an appointment for me on Wednesday.... My pain got really really really really bad.... worst than labor or any other pain I have ever had.... Soooo... I went to the ER about 6 pm on Monday night.... It took them 6 hours to take me back, then I finally got seen by a doctor only to get surprised by a rectal exam.... OMG!!!!! So then he ordered a CAT scan to rule out a bowel obstruction.... All my symptoms pointed to it.... Sooo I had to drink that nasty barium stuff and then the did the test only to say that all is fine.. But this is good... I did NOT want surgery again so soon... We got out of there around 6 am.... 12 HOURS we were there... I have NEVER been there that long....
Anyway....
They did find out that I had a bladder infection and think that I probably have an intestinal virus... Since my all my goodies inside are rearranged, I reacted differently now to a virus... I just hope I don't ever have to go through that pain again.... I am feeling better now and doing good. We actually went to hubby's work Christmas party tonight.... I was able to eat without pain and I was happy about that....
There is sooo much more to this story, but I didn't want to make it a book... LOL.... Just wanted to update you all about what I THOUGHT was going on with me.... I am just so glad I didn't need surgery and I can take some mylanta, some bactrim and potonix and be done and all better.....
HuGS to all,
Shawn M.
Shawn, I am so sorry to hear about your pain and the havig to stay so long in ER. I had the same pain, and they too told me "I was full of poop" so sent me on my merry way and it happened again a month later, and this time I went to my dr and he said that he thought it was my gallbladder and sent me to the surgeon and they took it out on the 29th of Nov and I am feel okay, not great yet but okay, I do not know if it was truely my gallbladder or what so far no pain, do not want to go there again, ever.
I will be praying for you that this does not happen to you again, ever.
Blessing
Christine,
I would say that pain compares to gallbladder pain... I had that out a few years ago, and it was pretty close to the same thing, just in a different spot... So far I have been feeling good, so we will keep our fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again... I am suspecting that it was just an intestinal virus or something.... Just had to run it's course and I feel better now... Thanks so much for the prayers...
HUGS,
Shawn M.
Thanks Naomi!!! I have never been there that long except for one time before when I went in for chest pain and that was because they wanted to watch me for like 12 hours or more... But I was being taken care of that time.... This time I sat waiting with nothing for about 6 - 7 hours.... The weather here created lots of accidents and stuff and just loaded up the ER and all the ambulances kept coming in with more "urgent" cases... So I kept getting put on hold to get taken back.... What a time it was... I felt bad for hubby cuz he had to go to work half an hour after we got back.... poor baby.... LOL....
HUgs,
Shawn M.
Thanks Kim... I Have a feeling it was just a virus, since I am fine now and back to normal and eating and drinking just fine... I guess that is just how I react to a virus... it is the first time I have been sick since my surgery, so I didn't know that.... Ohhhh what pain though, I hope I don't get sick like that again.... It was worst than labor...... IF you can believe that.... LOL...
Hope you are doing well... How is the gaining of weight going???? Haven't heard much from you lately and I miss your posts keeping us updated..... I think about you everyday..
Hope to hear from you soon...
HUGS,
Shawn M.
I was very relieved that I didn't need surgery!!! The doctor seemed very puzzled though because he had already contacted the surgeons and they were ready to come and see me... He was that sure that I had an obstruction... Thank goodness it wasn't though... I just wanted to be out of pain and I didn't care how at that point...
HUGS,
Shawn M.
