I received a gift in the mail from my boss today. I open the styrofoam cooler and it had all the fixings for dinner--two steaks, two crab cakes, seafood bisque....and two LIVE lobsters!
I love seafood, but I never cooked anything from a live state before. It was a memorable gift, but next year I'm hoping for a Honeybaked ham.
Wanda,
Your boss must think highly of you because I know that gift set him back a pretty penny! I've never cooked a live lobster before either and don't think I could!! I doubt I would eat anything that I had to kill first!
Well, we've packed everything we can and more so it's just last second stuff right now! Our animals are so upset! They don't know what is going on! The dogs are coming with us but our poor cat is going to be boarded.
I hope all of you get what you want for Christmas - rest, gifts, peace or whatever!!! Stand up to temptation - stand up and walk away from it!! I did a stupid thing at Sam's Club the other day! They were passing out samples of fudge and I thought I could eat that one little bite with no problem. I ate it - peanut butter fudge, my favorite! REAL SUGAR - the first time! No problem with the first bite BUT we stood there and decided my husband would buy a package for a Secret Santa gift at work. When we came back around, I tasted the Pecan Turtle fudge and by the time I got to the car, I was DUMPING. I knew that I was sensitive to sugar because I have trouble with sugar alcohols. I felt horrible for about 45 minutes but when that happens, it just reinforces the fact that I need to stay away from sugar! I'm a sugar addict which is the reason I had a RNY instead of a lapband!
I'll try to get online but I doubt I'll have a chance!! We even decided it wasn't worth taking the laptop because we'll be out most evenings!

I'm very fortunate that my boss does think very highly of me. He tells people that the best thing that he has done in his career was to hire me! But, all of the administrators got the Lobster-Gram. That wasn't anything special for me. It was memorable, that's for sure.
CeCe, I'm sorry you got sick, but isn't it wonderful at the same time?! I hope I'm a dumper like that. I think that's a great blessing to keep us on the straight and narrow! Have a wonderful Christmas, my beautiful little (petite) friend! We look forward to hearing from you when you return! Have fun in that stunning red coat!
Wanda
Wow Wanda, what an incredible gift.. Last year hubby got a flashlight... LOL... Who knows what they will give out this year... I have never cooked a live lobster either, I have gotten FRESH but not that fresh... LOL... I always end up overcooking them too.... Good Luck with that, it sounds like it will be a great dinner for you and your hubby....

Randy cooked it beautifully and it really was quite good. But, for some reason to see it alive minutes before I ate it made it lose some appeal. The lobsters were so huge, we saved the filet mignon for tonight and the crab cakes for Thursday. We will be eating gourmet all week! At least I don't have to see the steaks moving around before we grill them!
Hi Wanda,
What a great gift from your boss, I too received something similar, it's a Lobster Gram, I get to pick out from the book what I want and they ship it to me similar to what you received. Of course when I called for details they too told me I need to prepare everything, I have never cooked a lobster either but they told me they would include instructions....I think it's a great gift, now I am going to plan a special night with my sweetie and surprise him, after the holidays of course

Yes, this was a lobster gram too. I didn't know it was coming so I'm glad that Randy was home to cook them. He travels a lot so it was just luck that he was here. I have to say that if he wasn't here those lobsters would have gone to someone else because I just wouldn't have put them in the boiling water!
Reading the roach comment while sipping coffee this early in the am..and Umm my screen wore it..LMAO
Me being from New England I love Lobster...I can make just about anything with it..My boys used to love playing with them till they were cooked..it was funny..
Boy I miss home..It's way to much to even consider buying them in this area and there nothing (as in size) compared to home.
