My story about being M.I.A.
Hi everyone,
I know I have been M.I.A. lately so let me give you guys my updates.
1. Still suffering from mega headaches from my accident on 10/26
2. Still do not have my vehicle back from the body shop from said accident
3. Still going to the chiropractor 3 days per week due to said accident
4. Became Nana on 11/6 Healthy baby boy Jacob
5. 11/26 I received word that my toddler's daycare was closing on 11/30, 4 days notice, this is the second daycare to up and close on me in the past 2 years with short notice.
6. I got home on 11/26 to find out that my Grandson was admitted to the hospital
7. 11/27 Jacob has surgery for a Pyloric Stenosis that had blocked his food from going into his intestines causing him to vomit everything he ate.
8. We were told that he would recover quickly and go home on 11/28
9. Actually took him till 11/30 to hold anything down and he was released to come home, YEAH! I could finally breathe again.
10. The End of the drama.
As you can see, life has been exciting and not in a very good way around my home. Hopefully all drama is over and life is back to normal. I love my boring, routine life! Never let anyone say that bored is a bad word. I love being bored! It just means that everything is on track and going just the way I planned.
Well, as far as my eating, I bet you already can guess I have not been good. It is funny how crisis can make you revert to old habits. While at the hospital, the cafeteria was too handy and a great escape from the tensions. I ate fast food and cafeteria fare for 4 days. I ate everything I could get my hands on. Luckily the scale doesn't show it. I weighed this morning and it still is holding at 220. Today was a new day and a new plan.
I spent today planning my menu for the upcoming week. I have decided to make a menu, prepare the food and NOT vary from the plan for ANY reason. My plan is simple, filling and right on track. It is high protein, good carbs, and lots of veggies which have been sorely lacking from my recent diet. Also, I am getting my butt back to the gym this week at least 3 times. I can still only do cardio but that is at least something that gets me moving.
My plan is as follows:
Breakfast:
Weight control oatmeal
With ½ apple or ¼ cup raisins
Lunch:
Veggie soup- homemade today by me enough for the whole week
2 oz canned chicken
Dinner:
Veggie soup
2 oz canned chicken
Snacks: 3 per day that can be any of the following.
Protein with yogurt
Protein with SF pudding
Nuts
Low fat cheese stick
Total: Calories 1221
Fat: 32 288 25%
Sat: 5 48 4%
Poly: 11 101 9%
Mono: 12 105 9%
Carbs: 149 464 40%
Fiber: 33 0 0%
Protein: 99 396 35%
I read Wanda's 5 lb challenge and I accept. I will follow my plan this week and may switch to her plan next week. It sounds like a good plan to move the scale. I have to get myself back on track so that I can reach my goal. I am still 21 lbs from onederland and I am determined to get there.
I have read all the latest posts. Sorry I didn't have time to reply individually. I am glad to hear that Kim is doing well and also Glad that Christine's gallbladder surgery went well. Congrats to Christy on the new job! A special shout out to Therese on making onederland! You Rock! Shawn, I am sorry to hear about how bad your depression has been. Maybe now that the wedding is over and you other son is coming home, you will have a chance to focus on you and do what is needed to get yourself better. We all know how bad depression can be. Make sure you get whatever help is needed to see you through. I am keeping you in my thoughts. Pattie, take your meds and those pesky ulcers will be gone in no time. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water to wash the meds down and out of your pouch. That is very important to us all.
Well, I hope I haven't left anyone out. I hope we all have a very productive, uneventful week. Lord knows I couldn't stand any more drama.
Hugs,
Valorie
Ps...Sorry about the lengthy post.
Thanks Christy,
Things are definately on the upswing! I went to the chiropractor this morning and he did a manual adjustment on my neck that immediately took the headache away. The past weeks he has been adjusting it with some type of machine thing that looks like a cordless drill. The manual adjustment was what I needed. I think a few of these and the headaches will be a thing of the past.

Valorie

What a busy time you have had... Congrats on becoming a Nana!!!! How exciting.... I am glad to hear that things are getting back on track for you and doing better.... Your strength amazes me. Keep up the good work....
Oh and Thanks... I do keep up with my doctors, I see them like every two weeks right now and more if needed... I think the meds are starting to kick it up and get things going better now.... Time will tell....
HUGS,
Shawn M.
Thanks Shawn,
Yes, it has been busy but things are getting better, sort of. I got my car back last evening. Which means I left work in my rental car, drove to the body shop, picked up my car, drove it back to my job, (20 miles) waited for my husband to get off work to pick me up, rode with him back to the body shop to pick up my rental car and then drove home. Which translates, again no gym time!!!! Today I had to get a co-worker to follow me to the rental place to drop off the rental car on my lunch hour. I can totally see why people file law suites after accidents! It takes so much time and effort not to mention the inconvenience to everyone. Not only the injuries but just everything in general.
I know you have been a busy bee also. I am glad the wedding went well and I guess we can be called grandma together soon! Can you believe it? I know I don't feel old enough to have the title. I always thought 80 would be a good age for grandkids. However, I wouldn't trade him, or the experience for anything in the world. He has been a joy and I am proud to be called Nana!
I know you will feel that way too.
Hugs,
Valorie
Britt,
The chiro is helping the headaches but when they hit, they floor me. Car is back, see post to Shawn above for details.
I was totally flipping about the day care! This was the second time in 2 years that a day care has closed down on us with less than 1 week notice. Luckily, one of the ladies that works at the day care lives about a block from us and she has agreed to keep D.J. His first day was Monday and it went well. I want to place him in a good academic day care after the first of the year but this was a quick fix for now.
I didn't make it to the gym again on Monday but I am going today! Come He!! or highwater, as they say. I shall get there today! I am shooting for Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday this week.
Thanks for caring.
Hugs,
Valorie
Valorie,
I'm glad to see you back! Poor Jacob! Such a tiny thing to have to go through so much. I hope he is much better now. I remember Kim telling you to document everything about that traffic accident so make sure it is known that you are still suffering headaches. I hope now that things are settling down a bit, your headaches will cease.
Valorie, you will hit Onederland! Don't put too much pressure on yourself between now and Christmas but have a plan and work it!
