I have never heard that smoking can cause an ulcer. As if you needed another reason to quit! My husband is on the Chantix and it's working great for him. I'm sorry that it made you sick. I know that it is a common side effect.

It's an ulcer. Ughh. I got a prescription for Carafate that I have to take 4 times a day. Not sure how long I have to take it but they gave me a huge bottle of them. My friend, Debbie, took me there and was with me after the procedure and she told me I had the entire area laughing at me. I was so doped up and talking all kinds of nonsense. She told me that I told her the doctor said I had an ulcer but everything else looked fine but I needed to get some landscaping done! Is that hilarious? She told the doctor what I said and he was rolling laughing. My procedure was scheduled for 2:30pm and we didn't leave there until about 5:30pm. I felt so bad making her wait that long for me. But I want you to know I am still messed up! I felt fine when I got up and came to work but now I feel drunk again! I also got my prescription filled for Chantix so I can quit smoking. But I haven't taken it yet - I need to call my doctor and see if it will aggravate my ulcer or not. Anyway, thank you all for your concern. I'll be okay now that I know what it is. Hugs, Susan

i am sorry to hear that it was a ulcer. I didn't realize that the pain form one could come on so fast. Good thing to know just in case. But at least know you know what it is and can get it under control. I have heard that the meds they give you can make you do some pretty funny stuff! Good luck on the quitting smoking again! Hugs, Kim

I am feeling okay now, I guess. I really hate taking these horse pills though. I have to take them 4 times a day on an empty stomach. The directions say to take either 1 hour prior to eating or 2-3 hours after eating. Now, when is that? I am having a hard time finding when I can take it! Now I'm not sure if I should start taking the Chantix to quit smoking. I'm scared it will aggravate my ulcer or delay healing. Susan
