Endoscopy tomorrow

I had my 1 year check up last Tuesday (the 13th) and was fine. Then I went to lunch with my friend and since then I haven't felt good. I thought I had something stuck in my pouch so on Friday I called the doctor and the PA told me to come in for an endoscopy on Monday. We think it is either a stricture or an ulcer. I'm kind of thinking it is an ulcer because every time I eat or drink something I get severe pain in my pouch. It's like my pouch cramps up and has me almost doubled over when it hits. But then it eases up for a while. And I definitely can't eat as much as I used to be able to. I can only eat about 1/2 cup or so and I get uncomfortably/painfully full. So I don't know what is going on. I'm kind of nervous about having this procedure done but I want to know what is going on. So wish me luck that they find out what is going on and can fix it. I'm sure I'll be fine. But the other thing is that I can't eat or drink anything from midnight tonight until my appointment, which isn't until 2:30pm tomorrow. That's going to be the hardest part - no coffee, water, anything! Ughh. I'll let you know how it goes. Susan

Good luck Susan. I'm sure they can find what's wrong and get you on the road to feeling better. I hope it's an easy fix. Be sure to drink plenty of water before you go to bed tonight. That's a long time to go without any water.

Oh, Susan, I'm so sorry! I hope it is just something stuck and not an ulcer. Let us know as soon as possible. CeCe

I'M SO THIRSTY!!! Only 3 more hours before my appointment. I'm taking a bottle of water with me so when I am finished I'll be able to drink it on the way home.

You poor thing! Do you know how you may have gotten an ulcer? I've been worried about getting an ulcer too. The plastic surgeon told me to take Motrin after my surgery and I was too loopy to think, so I did it. Now I find out that even one dose can cause an ulcer on our stoma! I had plenty of doses before I regained my mind and asked the bariatric surgeon about it. Please be sure to post when you hear the outcome. We will be praying for you! Wanda

I am ashamed to admit this but I smoke. I quit before surgery for over two months. But then I started back again. I have tried Chantix and it made me very, very sick so I had to stop taking it. But I have decided to try it again at a lower dosage and see how it works. I really want to quit but it is just so hard. I have no willpower!! But if I have an ulcer it is probably because of that. We'll see. Only 2.5 more hours! Susan

Good luck on the not drinking that is a really long time. I hope that you get the answers you need to take care of this. It isn't fun to not feel good. Hopefully is is just something stuck. It seems to have hit you hard pretty fast. Let us know how it goes. Hugs, Kim

I hope it is something stuck too. I feel like I have a golf ball stuck in my pouch. I want to eat something but every time I do it just hurts really bad. Not a good weighloss method! lol. I'll let everyone know what happens as soon as I get home. Susan
