What the heck is going on here? No exercise...sitting in my recliner for 3 weeks...not logging my food. Am I losing my muscle mass? It's a mystery.

Thanks, Britt! The funny thing is---my pants aren't too loose! So, is my weight loss actually muscle loss or do I still have swelling? I'm not sure what is happening here but, I'm hoping that I still have some swelling. It's great to see the scale go down though.

The girls are riding too high and haven't fallen into the pocket yet. I was wondering if under the muscle was a good idea because I had pectoral muscles that you could actually see. I was afraid that my big muscles would hold the implant and not allow it to drop. Hopefully, that's not the case. The doc's paperwork said it takes 2-12 weeks to fall. It's been three so far.
Other than that, the girls are going to be a good size. I did not want the big fake boob look. Mine are basically my previous size. I just wanted them to maintain a better shape after the lift. I can still wear the same size shirts. I was afraid that the boobs would make everything too tight but, that hasn't been the case.
The girls need to behave. It's back to work next week. I was just getting used to being home!

Congrats, Wanda! That is WONDERFUL! Another goal hit! Even (and I mean even) if part of the weight loss is POSSIBLY muscle loss, you will build the muscle back and since you still have swelling, your 100 pound loss is still a go! Don't sweat it, enjoy it!
Short update on me: Tough night. My swelling legs are driving me crazy. That's the worst part for me right now. This surgery is TOUGH, TOUGH, TOUGH but in some ways hasn't been as hard as I'd thought. I couldn't imagine how I would get up and down out of a chair or bed and that hasn't been near as tough as I'd thought. The swelling though.......
I miss sleeping! I'm tired! My poor husband has been the best nurse anyone could EVER have but I feel so guilty putting him through so much. I had to wake him up twice last night. The first time at 2:45 and then at 4:45. I couldn't do what he's done for me this past week. I owe him BIG TIME!

CeCe, what kind of a binder are you in? Do have the one that goes to the knees? I only have the kind that wraps around the waist so I started wearing support panty hose. That helped push some of the fluid out of my thunder thighs. Isn't it funny that the fluid goes to the areas that aren't compressed?
Night is the worst for me too. I still wake up every two hours. My breasts tend to swell and get so sore that it wakes me up. You were smart to wait on the upper body. I'm worried how well I can function at work next week since I'm still not sleeping.
Tell Hank to hang in there. It gets better every day.
Wanda
wanda,
My binder is just an abdominal one. I also wear the white support hose they put on me the morning of surgery (they've been washed!!!). Last night I seemed to be able to sleep a little better (with the help of Ambien) after I put compression on my THUNDER THIGHS!!! I have to tell you guys something VERY funny! Yesterday afternoon, we took the dogs for a short walk through the woods. Just before we stepped into the woods, I felt something big and bulky high up between my legs. I thought my drainage bulbs had fallen there and I was scared I would break it. There was a woman sitting on a bench by the lake so I couldn't reach down and check! We walked onto the path and as soon as I was in private, I reached down to find out what it was and it was my THUNDER THIGHS rubbing together!!!! With all the fluid, it felt like I had extra large men's genitals!!! I had to laugh! Then I continued my walk with my legs spread further apart!
Back to the binder, I'm going to find some good thigh compression today. Having 4 drains still, I don't think I can buy a one piece chest to knee compression garment but I have to find something because last evening I was in the most pain I've ever suffered in life from that swelling. It is unrelenting and I sometimes fear my legs will burst open!
I'm sorry you still aren't sleeping well, Wanda. Are you sleeping in bed? I have been every night since we got home from the hotel. I prop up and my tail bone and butt are SORE. My back is aching. I've already mentioned I wake up, like you do! Sounds like neither you nor I complain much, if at all, about the actual adominoplasty/LBL surgical sites! That's what I thought would be HORRIBLE and that's turned out to be the LEAST of my complaints!! I now TRULY understand what they mean when they say SWELL HELL!
Hang in there, Wanda! Those perky breasts are going to be GREAT! By the way, Susan, if you are reading, how are your breasts doing this far out?

Funny story!
You're right, I don't complain about the tummy tuck at all. I can't even feel where he supposedly did muscle repair. I'm a little numb around that area. My complaint is the breasts. At this point I wish I would have stuck with the breast lift instead of augmentation. I might change my mind when they drop into place.
Hope you get your drains out soon. It will make all of the difference in how you feel.
Wanda
Wanda and CeCe,
You guys are doing great!!!! Wow, I can't imagine going through something like that. You are both so brave. I hope your recovery continues to get better and easier for you both.
Well, my breasts are just great. I love them!!! I know that sounds funny and some people think they are too small but I am just ecstatic. They don't continue to move when I stop, they don't get in my way, and my clothes fit me so much better. I went from a 42DDD before surgery to now a 36B. The scars are healing very nicely and they aren't sore any more. I still have a lump/knot in each of them and the doctor said it may or may not go away but it is nothing to worry about. I love finding shirts that I don't have to worry about hiding my bra straps anymore. I just feel so much more comfortable and a lot less self-conscious about my breasts.
I still haven't decided on whether or not I am going to get a tummy tuck. I have heard so many painful stories (sorry ladies!) and I'm just not sure I really need one. If I have one it won't be until early spring so I still have some time to decide and see how my body changes by then.
Hang in there!!! You are both doing great and I'm sure this surgery is a lot worse than our WLS. Just keep getting your rest and try to get your protein in.
Susan
