My day got off to a lovely start when I realized that I had no clothes that fit me to leave the house in. I'm still about 10 pounds heavier than when I went into surgery and it's all around the thighs, back, and stomach. My stomach is HUGE and I have what I call the "butt back" where the fluids have sttled into what looks like a second butt. The doc said it's not uncommon and time will take care of it. They took the drains out so I think I will move around more now.
Just in case I wasn't feeling awkward enough--I developed an interesting condition called "Hairy Tongue". My doctor said that he knew about the condition, but had never witnessed it first hand. Oh, how lovely I feel.
Apparently it was caused from the meds.
Dang, why couldn't my tongue have been a blond or even a red head. It had to have black hair!
Gotta laugh or I would be crying!

Yesterday after my post-op appointment, I stopped taking all meds. I was on a pain med, muscle relaxer, and antibiotic. My tongue was almost hairless by evening. I took my last dose of antibiotic before bed, and walah! The hairy tongue was back! I guess it was the Augmentin that was the problem! As we speak, I still have the black hairy tongue, but I'm hoping that it leaves me today!
This is me talking to my doc about my tongue.

My doc was so sweet to take extra time with me to tell me about weird swelling stories that he's seen in other patients. He said the swelling is not unusual, especially in people that have a lot of deflated fat cells. He did his best to make me feel less freaki**** helped a little until I had to waddle past all of the lovely young ladies in his waiting room waiting for their boob jobs. Me, my butt back and my hairy tongue...
Hey Wanda, gosh you make me laugh. I havent stopped by in so long and to come back to read your last few days of posts and have been inspired at how wonderful you are at facing the pain and the outcome of PS.
OK, the hairy tongue thing... eat more yogert. It is a yeast imbalance. I have to take culturale (sp) after I got 'C-Def' in the late spring. Although it is a bit expensive, it will help get your body back in line.
I hope your swelling goes down soon and the pain fades...~sharon

Sharon, I'm glad to you stopped by the November board again. We miss you when you aren't here!
I'm happy to report that the black hair on my tongue is gone! It may have been a reaction that I had to Augmentin. I'll tell you--nothing can make a woman feel as beautiful as a black-haired tongue!
The doc finally gave me the abdominal binder! It has helped flatten the butt back and lumpy, bumpy fluid pockets around my midsection. Unfortunately, it has pushed the fluids into my thighs! I have "Thunder Thighs" you wouldn't believe! Another doc suggested that I have Lymphatic massage. I live in a small town so I'm not sure if I can find a certified lymphatic massage therapist, but I'm going to give it a try. I found one in Tampa, but I'm not up to traveling that far.
With all that said--I'm still 10 pounds heavier after the surgery than before! Can you believe it?! How frustrating!
I hope you have by now recieved your massage...I wonder if a diretic pill would help with the H20 retention???
Hey, by the way... happy surgerversary! Can you believe a year ago today we under went the greatest transformation of our lives... I know that I will never regret what I did and only wish I had the courage to have had done it many years before!

Happy surgeryversary to you too!! I've been thinking of that a lot today. I'm like you--I wish that I would have done it years ago too. It truley has been the greatest transformation in our lives. I'm so happy. It has been such a wonderful year.
No, I didn't get my lymphatic massage. None of the massage therapist around here are qualified to do it. My swelling is subsiding though. It's not as horrible as it was. The doc didn't recommend a diuretic. He thinks that time will take care of it. It's been a rough couple of weeks but overall, I'm very happy with the results.
Sharon, I hope that you find a way to celebrate our big day. I'm going to wait a couple of weeks and then go on a big shopping spree.
