I have since March been at a standstill or gain then lose. I am a bander and I just recently visited the clinic and got a fill thank goodness. Priot to that it was July. I am wondering and sometimes think I should have had the bypass surgery instead. I chose lap band for several reasons and I KNOW the weight is going to come off slower. I have had some emotional issues that are related to my failure lately and I have since shrugged it off and am now back on track. Just give me some encouraging cheering up!! I am a happy bubbly person and some friends of mine are having marriage problems that resulted in ME thinking I could change or help and it back fired on me. SO now that I wrote them out of my life I am focusing on ME! Walking the track with my hubby and increased protien. Just send me some LOVE. Love you all! Jackie in Michigan

Jackie, This can be such a frustrating process even for those of us who have gastric bypass. Unfortunately for most of us the reason we got to where we were is because we use food as our drug of choice and it can truely be an addiction. These surgeries are a tool to use and makes things a little easier but we still get to deal with the emotional aspects of our addiction. It sounds like you've made some very positive changes though. It is important to think about yourself and let your friends deal with their own problems. You can be a shoulder to cry on without taking on their issues as your own. So you're definitely going in the right direction!! Keep up the good work and keep us posted!! Corinna Q

It hurts when our good intentions back-fire on us. You're right to bru**** off and go on. No sense dwelling on things that can't be changed. I'm glad you are back on track and ready to focus on YOU! Just keep working the plan and great things will be coming your way! Here's to your success Wanda

Jackie, Good for you! You know when to say enough is enough and get on with your own life. We have probably all tried to help someone we love and gotten knocked down in the process. You have to take the time to take care of you now. Make a plan every day and stick to it. I am amazed at how much it helps me get through the hard times. Join us for the daily plan to succeed post and/or the weekly weigh in. We are all good folks and have broad shoulders ready to cry or laugh on. Welcome HOME! Valorie

I'm here to tell you that no matter what tool you have, it has it's challenges. Just to help you put things in perspective, I have to share with you my story. Alot of the reason I stopped coming to this forum was that I stared feeling crappy about my progress. It was becoming exceedingly difficult to not compare myself to others. There are many more here who have lost more than 100 lbs., yet I struggle to hit 90 lbs lost still. The fact that I've gone from a 26 to a 16 and not longer have sleep apnea and am no longer diabetic lost their place in priority. I know I do what's right. I exercise and eat right -- for whatever reason its just slower for me. Slower for me, and I've had Lap RNY. Emotional issues are always hard to cope with, and if we're used to using food to make us feel better, then that creates even more of a challenge. The best part is that you see things clearly now and know you need to focus on YOU. So many people go through that kind of thing and forget about themelves. You had your reasons for choosing the Lapband. I have no doubt that once you get in the groove and use your tool, you'll be making progress again -- don't ever rethink your choice. It's counter-productive. Use the energy to move forward and make it work for you. I've been in your shoes and can empthize with you from personal experience. Not just on the weight loss front, but I had to walk away from my first marrige because of some serious issues. Tons of love sent your way sister... *hugs* Donna
