I gained 3 pounds!
I don't know how or why. I did everything correctly last week...at least I thought I did. But this morning my scale monster tells me I GAINED 3 lbs! When I went to weigh in at Curves on Saturday, their scale had me 6 lbs higher than mine but I thought it was just their scale. I have been trying to only weigh once per week on mine. I am so disheartened! What am I doing wrong? You can see me daily posts of my plans and I can truthfully say that I followed them to the letter! I didn't even have the "adult beverage" on Friday that I had planned. I just don't get it.
I feel so disgusted and defeated!
and just plain

Valorie,
Sending BIG hugs - That is FRUSTRAING!
Try upping your water (that what my nutritionist always suggests and it does work)
How many colries a day are you taking in on average?
I know that you are trying to do PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN and minimal carbs ... keep up with that.
I suggest you continue your plan
up your water and protein
and pump up your exercise plan a knotch
do you work out in your taget heart range? ( I swear by that )
hang in there and keep us posted,
Britt
I was remiss on my water intake this weekend. Today I am back on my gallon a day plan. So far, so good. My average calorie intake is about 1000. Some days a bit less; some days a bit more.
I do not have a HR monitor and I know that the Curves workout is not enough for me any more. I still have 2 months on my contract then I think I will go to a regular gym. I have been supplementing my Curves workout with the TurboSonic, walking and some weight lifting at home.
One thing that is different....My GYN had me start taking a low dose hormone. (which I started on Sunday 9/30) He swore to me that it would not affect my WL but I had my doubts. He wants me to try the pills for a few months to see if they help with TOM who has been frequent and heavy the past few months. He did a biopsy to check my hormone levels and said they were all over the place. The pill is supposed to help even things out. I would bet dollars to doughnuts, pardon the expression, that this is the culprit of the weight gain.
Thanks for listening and for your encouragement,
Valorie

Oh Valorie, I'm so sorry. I know that you've been so disciplined and motivated. It's not fair. Sometimes our bodies just do what they have to do. You are someone who can post big loses some weeks (unlike your Florida friend) so maybe next week will be one of those weeks for you.
Britt's advice was on-target. I have nothing else to add. Good luck this week!
Don't beat yourself up. It's all that muscle you're gaining or water weight or TOM. You're doing better than me by sticking to your plan I write it down and then change my mind or something comes up and everything has changed. How were you the week before I think we're on a week delay and this good week will catch up with you next week. I always am telling my boss to look at the big picture. Look how far you have come and how much weight you have lost you are a huge success.

Valorie,
Oh honey, what a bummer!!!! So my advice is this. First of all the hormones probably are affecting you but probably with jus****er weight not actual fat. I would bet it evens out pretty quickly. And I wouldn't stop taking them. I have to stay on BC to steady my hormones or I have periods every two weeks or no period for five months then a horrid one...anyway I can't tell you how nice it is to be regular, and most likely in the end it will even out your weight loss too to not have your hormones jumping all over the place. I think it is definitely something that has helped me loose slowly but steadily this whole time. Although I haven't dropped huge amounts of weight at anyone time I also haven't stalled like a lot of people.
Second, you might want to try adding in a few more carbs. I know it sounds counter to everything we hear but sometimes a change in the diet is a helpful thing. It gives the body something new to think about. For me, if I take carbs out of my diet I completely stall. I have to have at least 30 to 40 grams of carbs a day. I try to stick with healthy carbs (whole grains, fruits etc) but I usually have some normal stuff too. Anyway, might be a thing to experiment with.
And keep up the great work, you are a great example to me for helping me stay on track with your daily plan posts!!

Kim,
Thanks for your post. I know you have more than your share on your plate (sorry for the bad pun) and I appreciate you taking the time to think of me. So, I take it you are just waiting for a cancellation? Any more appts with your PCP? Since they don't seem to be helpful, maybe it is best for you just to stay home and concentrate on eating and conserving energy. I know how hard it must be for you to even get ready to go out anywhere.
How is work going from home? Are you able to get anything accomplished? I don't think I would worry too much about this one either though.
You are never far from my thoughts. I hope you have a gaining week. Heck, I wish I could give you my 3 lbs I gained last week! Boy wouldn't that be a trick?
Val
Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your empathizing with me today. I know for a fact that I did very well today. I have had 120 oz of pure water. I will have consumed 1390 cal- 144 gr protein and only 33 gr- gross carbs by the time I hit the bed. Also, I have tomorrow planned out as well. I am going on the Adkins principles of protein, fat and low carb but am adding my protein shakes and yogurt which gives me dairy carbs. Do you guys think this sounds like a decent plan for 3 days? I don't know if I should try it any longer. After 3 days I am switching it totally to low cal and good carbs like oatmeal, cereal and whole wheat crackers. I don't want to fall into the Adkins trap ever again, I know you guys understand that trap all too well.
Thanks again, I really appreciate all of you. Tell me what u think of my plan.
Hugs,
Valorie
