Can you believe we are approaching our 11th post op month? -- Soon we'll be celebrating our SURGIVERSARIES QUESTIONS - 1) How many more pounds do you want to lose to get to goal? 2) If you are "at goal" how is maintenance going? Here are my stats: Starting weight 250.5 Last week = 145 This week = 145 Loss this week = 0 Total loss = 105.5 Current BMI = 23.4 KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! Quotes for the week ... William J.H. Boetcker "Never mind what others do; do better than yourself, beat your own record from day to day, and you are a success!" Positive Power challenge --- send STRONG temptation fighting vibes your way How does your week ahead look? Do you have a party, business lunch, is Tuesday "bagel day" at the office? Do you feel like hitting the snooze button instead on the gym? Pay attention to a situation that you encounter this week, where you have to make a choice. Tell us how you made a POSITIVE choice that reflects your NEW healthy lifestyle -- then let's share the POSITIVE choices we made!!! Sending hugs, Britt

I am with you it is hard to believe that we are close to a year. I have been really struggling recently getting in consistent exercise and decided that was ridiculous. So... I called and made an appointment with a personal trainer to get me started at a local gym. I joined a different one last year but quit over the summer and did water aerobics but didn't pick back up when school started. So... A positive choice. I have on my calendar three workouts a week. I may do more but I am guarenteed the three. I have been food fighting for a while it seems. I am an addict and a smaller tummy didn't change my head! Starting Weight: 358 Last week: 196 Today: 195 Weekly loss: 1 Total Loss: 163 Goal.... well my doctors initial goal for me was 190 - which I hoped to have reached by today when I see him. Oh well. I am hoping that is not the final goal. I'd love to get to about 160. Congrats Britt - staying the same is better than gaining! Positive choices are being made in our lives all the time and they will turn into positive habits! Trudy

Trudy! Good for you - hiring a personal trainer will "make sure" you are at the gym! Especially when you are PAYING for him / her to kick your booty! Have fun and kick butt!!!! you are doing great - another pound bites the dust! yes, staying the same IS better than gaining! hugs, Britt

Hey congratulations on a successful garage sale! I need to do one SO badly! But the rain has come and I'll have to wait until next year. This has been an up and down week for me. Good days and bad days. Lately, I've just been on the couch most of the day. Watching TV and surfing the net. Thank goodness I have a laptop! I'm thinking about calling my PCP and begging for TPN. I'm also going to e-mail this 2nd surgeon I talked with last week and update him on my test results. It's looking pretty likely I will have to have a revision. It's just a matter of time and money. Oh, and my health. I can feel myself getting weaker. I know my body is starting to burn my muscles. It's not a pretty sight. Starting weight 202 Last week = 101 This week = 98 Loss this week = -3 Total loss = 104 Current BMI = 16.8 Outlook for the week? I'm trying to go back to work part time. Trying being the operative word. Don't know if I will have the energy or not. I'm filing a short term disability claim and going to see if they can set me up at home for remote log in so I can work from home some. That's about it for me. Hope you all have a great week!

Well, my plan is kind of tentative. I plan on contacting the other surgeon in Missouri with my test results and get his take on how much of a revision I may need. I've really given in to having a revision, but I will just have to wait and see if I'm comfortable with the docs here, if they will even do it. In the meantime, I NEED to do something to stop the muscle loss. I fight so hard every day to maintain. If I don't eat at least 5 meals a day, I can't maintain. So I am planning on calling my doc and seeinig if I can get TPN. I know a feeding tube is out for the time being. They say that wouldn't help anyway. I'm just afraid I'm wasting away while waiting for this appt. on the 17th. So, that's the plan. UGH!

I have found some pre-mixed protein drinks I can tolerate, so I drink those. I have also tried drinking regular shakes on occasion, or a Wendy's frosty. I can usually tolerate about as much as the kid sized frosty but more than that makes my tummy sick from all the sugar. Going to work didn't work. I was just too exhausted getting ready and getting there. I didn't get there until 2:00 and I was up at 5:30 to start getting ready. So they set me up to telecommute so I can do some stuff at home. I'm off to my dr. here in about an hour to discuss TPN. I'll keep you posted.
