Satan came to visit me

He was diguised as two birthday cakes. As I was cutting and serving the cakes, I found my fingers were covered in that wonderful frosting. Then I noticed how much of the frosting was left behind on the bottom of the box that the cakes came in. I had a moment of waivering..."I want to lick the icing off my fingers"..."I want to scoop up some of the frosting left behind"...ahhhh! I am happy to report that I totally resisted and sent Satan home with the kids! It feels so good to dodge that bullet! I knew it would be hard. I almost bought myself a box of those sugar-free Tastycakes so that I could enjoy cake with the rest of the family. But I knew that I would eat the whole darn box before the weekend was over so I didn't get them. I suppose it's always going to be just one day at a time for us--just like someone following the principles of AA. Long-term success will be getting through one more celebration, one more social event, one more stressful time without caving in to temptation. Aren't I philosophical this Sunday afternoon? Wanda

Well thank you, Britt. I'm scared to death of giving in to sugar. I'm more afraid that it won't make me dump than if it does make me dump. Either way, I don't want any first hand experience with it!

I so agree with you Wanda. If I have anything with a lot of sugar I get a massive headache and I still sometimes will push the envelope. Why is that, You'd think I'd learn the first time. Deb

Unfortunately that is the addictive relationship we have with food! It just keeps calling our names!

Wanda, Great job !! I'm worried that Satan will come to visit me Friday. My birthday is on Sunday, and my boss is always real good about bringing birthday cakes for her employees. She knows I've had surgery, so I'm not sure what she plans to bring. If she brings cake, I hope I'm strong enough to resist. Loretta

When we celebrate a birthday at work I buy a box of SF Tastycake cupcakes and no sugar added ice cream. It's gotten to the point where everybody eats the SF stuff and leaves the real cake!
