Hi Britt and everyone! I love this board too! I really look forward to Monday's to for this thread. I'm so bad, though. I didn't weigh this morning. Although, last week I got some bad spinach and lost the 2 lbs. I had gained the last 2 weeks, I was back up to 107 yesterday. So, I'm assuming I'm close to 107 today. I'll weigh tomorrow and may post it then. As for how I deal with head hunger or the carb monster, I am just really bad (as an example for everyone here) because my doc says to just eat whatever I can and eat lost of it! For now, all rules are out the window, except to keep up my protein and water, but as far as carbs, fat, calories, bring them on. I really feel bad posting this, but I know you guys are all rooting for me to be healthy, and even if I have to do opposite of what every other post op is supposed to do, I will. So, please don't hate me because I can eat whatever, I totally know that there will come a time when I will have to be diligent again. And I worry for that day that I'm creating (or extending) bad habits I have now and how hard it will be to curb that once the weight stabilizes. You guys are the best!

Hi Kim! I read while researching that "somethime" patients are encouraged to BREAK THE RULES inorder to maintain a healthy weight. Do not feel that we would hate you ... truth is while it may sound GREAT ... I'm sure you'd rather not have to have that worry - of maintaining a Healthy BMI !!! Just know we are here for you and rooting for you! have a great week, Britt

Don't feel bad Kim, I am almost where you are now. I was told to increase my calorie intake significantly and have been eating the majority of what I want in order to maintain (with some limitations). I try to stay away from sugar as it previously caused ulcer's for me but carbs and calories are significantly more than would normally be recommended. I worry too about the bad habits coming back into my life. Hugs Christy

Hello all, I am also so glad I found this board, it is great to be able to see how everyone is doing who had surgery about the same time as me. I wish more of the men would participate, I know I am not the only guy who had surgery in November. I managed to move my scale 3 pounds worth this week, but I know I am loosing inches. About 3 week ago I bought a pair of 4x sweatpants (that's down from a size 10X) and there were a little tight on me, so on Sunday I tried them on again and they fit perfect. As far as head hunger I still give in once and awhile, but most of the time I manage to get past it by having a protein bar or a protein drink, and so far it's working. I hope everyone has a great week ,and sending out positive scale moving vibes to everyone. Well, we know how I cope in some way for my munchies... by posting on the board that I want to eat something I shouldn't... LOL... One of the other ways I cope is to drink a bunch of water, so that my pouch is too full to much... It doesn't always help the craving or the 'want' for the food, but it keeps me from eating it most of the time.... Here are my stats Starting weight = 309 Last week = 185 This week = 185 Loss this week = 0 Total loss = 124 *I too have been stuck for a while (like 6 weeks I think), but since I started exercising last week I have noticed the inches going down, so that is a big plus.... I will post more about this in just a bit... LOL.... Shawn M.

Britt, I'm sure that tomorrow or the next day you will hit the CENTURY MARK and we won't even have to wait for the post! The WOO HOO will be heard throughout America! You can bet when I get there, everyone will hear me too!!!!! Regarding dealing with cravings or the carb monster, I've reported some of my strategies. First, I'm getting better and better at recognizing when it is head hunger, emotional reaction, craving or whatever, so I'll give myself a little pep talk. Then, I make a deal that I'll drink 2 glasses of fluid (water, Crystal Light, etc) and wait the required time before I do eat. By that time, I can usually either forget about whatever was calling my name or I'll eat the yogurt and protein powder, the protein powder/cottage cheese/fruit mixture or even half a protein bar. I also do my absolute best to keep any "junk" out of the house. Because we don't have children in the house that is pretty easy to do. Last night I made fish tacos (talapia) and used the Mission Low Carb Tortillas as shells. They have HIGH FIBER too! I was able to eat only 1/2 of one tortilla with the fish and veggies so my husband had 1 1/2 - not too much for him and enough for me to feel like I'd had a real meal! With a little side salad, that was more than enough. I've also mentioned before that I do my best when the carbs are limited and healthy ones. My blood sugar stays balanced and that in itself helps keep the Carb Monster at bay. I can focus on what I need to eat and not what I want to eat. When I eat too many or unhealthy carbs, the cravings come back. Right now I'm focused because I want to hit goal before 1 year and I REALLY want plastic surgery so I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed and working HARD. It's hard to get to the fridge and open it when your fingers and toes are crossed (and opening snack bags is tough too!!) Hey, if I thought that would work, I'd do it!!! WHEW! Now for the stats: Starting Weight: 245.25 Last Week: 154.75 (At 2 p.m. midweek and with clothing I was a little heavier at my 9 month appt) This Week: 153.25 Loss for Week: 1.50 Current BMI: 26.3 (getting closer!) Total Weight Loss: 92 Pounds
