Hey There :0) I hope all of you had a great week. I LOVE THIS BOARD!!!! You guys are great - it is such a great form of support. I particularly like that we are all NOVEMBER 2006 and can really relate to where we all are in our journeys. I also appreciate how respectful, honest, supportive and encouraging people are to one another here. It is a safe place to say "Hey I need help ..." or "I need to vent..." or to scream from the rooftops about a "wow moment, or a goal we have reached ..." I want to say THANK YOU to each of you. You all ROCK!!!!! I ALSO WANTED TO MENTION ... Shawn posted "I want Nachos!" - as a way to deal with and combat her craving / Head Hunger for the darn Nachos. It worked and she didn't eat them. I though that was a great idea. Wanda replied to that post, sharing that when she has a moment like that she forces herself to look up the nutritional information to see if its something that she feels is "worth it!" I thought they were both terrific ideas, and thought I'd bring this subject to the table this week .... so tell us How do you deal with Head Hunger, The Carb Monster or a plain ol' craving? Do you have something that you do that works for you? I made up a sign with my before picture and current after picture that reads : "NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS THIN FEELS !" One is posted on my refrigerator and one is inside my food pantry. It really does make me "aware" when I get one of those cravings and serves as a great reminder of where I was and where I DO NOT want to return!!! Here we go ... Here are my stats: Starting weight 250.5 Last week = 151.5 This week = 151.5 Loss this week = 0 (nada - zip) Total loss = 99 Current BMI = 24.5 *I've been "stuck" at 151.5 since 7/31 - please send me some postive scale moving vibes! - I want to join that Century Club !!!!!! Here is another great quote (and VERY true)... "Whether you think you can or think you can't - you are right." Henry Ford So tell me how was your week? KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! Hugs, Britt

Good Morning Britt! I am sending you some scale moving vibes in hopes for that one pound that will put you in the century club....... You are awesome and have done such a great job in your WLS journey.... The support you provide is awesome and is so appreciated. As far as for fighting the Carb Monster/ Head Hunger; the only advice I have to offer is "KEEP IT REAL"... I discuss my hunger with my husband as it is happening, this tends to keep it a little more in check. For some reason, if I let him know what is going on, it is easier to avoid. I like your idea of your before/after pics being appropriately displayed, that too would probably keep me "Aware" and make me want to avoid the pantry.... Here go my stat's for the week: Starting Weight: 273 Surgery Day Weight: 263 Last Week: 126 This Week: 125.5 Loss this week: .5 Loss since surgery: 137.5 Total Loss: 147.5 BMI: 20.2

Hi Britt, To answer your question in regards to maintaining, I am having issues.... I saw my surgeon today while at his office for 9 month nutrition workshop and he basically advised me to up my calorie intake significantly by whatever means needed..... I have been eating lots of fruit, wheat crackers with cream cheese, sugar free ice-cream, ect..... I still try to avoid sugar as I fear ulcer's.. At this point, I still have not found a calorie level to stop the weight loss... I have ate what I wanted over the past week and have not been active at all and still managed to lose .5 this week. Not bad but I feel I worked hard to keep the weight loss at that level. Like Kim, I fear creating bad habits that will hurt me in the future. Christy

Christy! Sounds like you are FOCUSED on increasing the calories with healthy choices - that is good!!!! hang in there! * My surgeon's office gives a breathing test its called "TARGET CALORIC" it tells you how many calories you need to take in to lose / maintain or gain weight - Maybe you can ask about something like that to help figure it out! WE ARE HERE FOR YOU! Britt

I just want to say I love this board also. We were out of town this weekend and I referred to you guys several times and had to explain who you were. LOL. I don't really have a good plan in place for overeating and I need one. I did do really well this weekend being out of town and having people working this weekend so I was on the phone almost all day Saturday which really makes my husband angry. I like the idea of posting problems because everyone on this board is so good about answering. Starting weight 298.5 Last week = 171.8 This week = 169.8 Loss this week = 2 Total loss = 128.7 Current BMI = 31.05 You rock Britt Thanks for doing the weekly weigh in, it keeps me on my toes. I am still struggling with my exercise and work overload so I'm setting a goal of exercising 3 times this week. We're going to the lake so I know I'll get in 2 there so that helps a lot. Everyone have a fabulous week. Deb

Hi Britt & my November friends, Here are my stats for this week: Starting weight 320 Last week = 209 This week = 209 lost this week = 0 (nada..zip) as Britt says Total loss = 110 Current BMI = 39 finally below 40 on my way to normal I woke up this morning with a good bit of fluid build-up. So I am hoping by the end of today or tomorrow, I will lose tha****er. My mother baked ham on yesterday and I ate several pieces. I may have had too much salt in it, even though she boiled it first. Oh, Well. Next week will be better. When I get certain cravings, I explore the nutritional value and if I decide to eat a little of it, I have to walk the treadmill for additional time to burn off the carbs and calories. Have a good week. Donna Myles
