I've got an appointment with the plastic surgeon next Friday to talk about the tummy tuck and breast lift. I want to lose another 15 pounds. Do you think I need to wait until I'm at goal?

You know how I am. It only took ten days from the time I decided to have gastric bypass till my surgery. I decided to do it at the information seminar, started making calls, and had all of the pre-op appointments done that day! The people at the doctor's office was amazed that I pulled it off. They said nobody has ever done that before. Once I make up my mind I can make it happen!
Good Luck.. Let us know how it goes. I thought we should be waiting a little while still, but I guess some PS surgeons take about a year to get a surgery date, so I guess it wouldn't be bad to start planning now... Something for me to think about. I am really interested in finding out how it goes so please be sure to post how your appointment goes....

It might be a little too soon but, in my line of work I have a six month window where I can't plan anything. I have to be on stand-by waiting for the Agency of Health Care Administration to come in and torture us with their annual week-long visit. If I don't do it by the end of this year I will have to wait until about this time next year. They say the tummy tuck is the worst surgery around and to plan at least three weeks at home.
wow...I was thinking I wouldn't even start the process of plastics for quite some time. I guess the idea of more major surgery is not very appealing to me. I think I'm going to wait until I truely hit bottom before I do it. I'm still loosing quite a bit in the inches category especially and I have 20 pounds left before I get to goal. But all that said if you feel you're ready for it then go for it!!! It certainly can't hurt to have the appointment and see what it will entail, figure out if you like the Dr (you might see several before you find one you really like) and they will tell you if you should wait or not.
Let us know how it goes!

Another major surgery doesn't sound appealing to me either. I don't remember waking up in recovery. My only memory was being in my hospital room with two nurses standing over me shouting "BREATH!" I thought they were about ready to call a code blue. My poor husband thought I was dying. He said my skin was so white he didn't think I had any blood left in me. I am a little afraid of the surgery itself.
I think part of it is that deep down, I don't think I will ever lose the last 15 pounds. I'm not trying to be negative but, I just don't think that my body will allow it. I hope I'm wrong but, if I'm not I'm actually happy where I am too.
Wanda,
I can't wait to hear how the appointment goes. When I had my nine month check up with my surgeon the other day, he said that plastic surgeons around here won't normally talk to you about Plastic Surgery until you are 18 months out and have stopped losing weight. He said if I called them in November (the one year mark), I should tell them that I'm very near goal and am stablizing and I should be able to get an appointment. I wanted to do the tummy tuck first but now I'm thinking about getting a consult and asking if anything can be done about my neck (can you say TURKEY?) and those folds that run from my nose to my mouth! I don't want a full face lift but I need some injections to fill out those folds and something done for my pitiful neck! You are so close to goal, Wanda, I don't doubt that the plastic surgeon will start working with you. Didn't you write once that you have five grandchildren, Wanda? I swear you look like a kid yourself!! You sure don't need any facial plastic surgery! Keep us informed!

CeCe, you are so sweet to say that. I actually have six grandsons. My daughter has 3 boys, Randy's daughter has two, and his son has one. We still have three kids ranging from 20-22 years old that hasn't had kids yet so we may have more. I think when I'm thinner I look a lot younger than I do when I'm heavier. I still tease Randy about his co-worker thinking I was his daughter! We are only three years apart!
I'm thinking of doing the tummy tuck/breast lift combo this year and the face lift, brow lift, eye lift combo next year. I have those folds on the face too. I call them parenthesis. I like punctuation but, not on my face!
