Ooooh I wanted to share something with you ... I am going to participate in my first RUN in a few weeks. A 50 mile relay!!! My leg is 6 miles!!! I would have NEVER dreamed that I would ever been able to participate in a relay / run. I am very excited and a little nervous too.
Tell me something you've done or are planning to do since WLS - something that you NEVER thought you would have done prior to losing weight.
Here we go

Have a great week.
You all ROCK! Stay Strong - keep focused - and be proud of what you've done so far !!!!!
keep your eye on the prize!!!

I thought this was a great quote - and soooooooo true - we need to keep our NEW healthy habits in order to maintain our new lives!

Donna
Good Monday to everyone! I had a not-so-great week last week. But this is another week and I am bound and determined to make it count.
Starting weight 233
Last week = 157.4
This week = 159.8
Gain this week = 2.4
Total loss = 73.2
The day after I posted my weigh-in last week the scale moved to 159.8 and it has been stuck there ever since!!! Ugghhh. Those 2 pounds have been messing with me for like a month now and it is so aggravating. Why is it so hard to get off those last 10-15lbs? I am 9 months out today! I thought I'd have lost a lot more by now. But I am happy with my results. I tried on some pants my friend gave me several years ago and guess what - the size 8 fit! They didn't look great but I could zip and button them! A few more lbs and I'll truly be in a size 8. I don't think I've been that size since I was a single digit midget myself!!! lol I never in my wildest dreams would have thought I'd be a size 8 and now it is almost a reality. What a blessing this surgery has been to me.
Oh - I'm also doing the Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure 5K in Charleston in October. Looking forward to that. I might even run some of it.
Take care,
Susan
Susan,
I started off just about 12 pounds heavier than you because I gained about 10 pounds right before surgery!!! We went out to eat every night!!! Anyway, I'm having the same frustrations you are having getting that scale to drop a little faster now too!!! I'm just home from my 2 p.m. appointment for my 9 month followup! I hate weighing in at 2 in the afternoon because it's always more than the morning and clothing is HEAVY (HA!). Anyway, I weighed in at 157.4 at the doctor's office and I just read that is EXACTLY what you weighed at home the other day!! As we all know, we can expect the weight loss to slow down now and we have to really stick to the plan to get it going again. Shawn mentioned nachos were calling her name and all of us are feeling cravings for foods. That's really scarey to me because I hadn't had any cravings since surgery until recently. I'd love for everyone to give some examples of how they fight cravings. One thing I've been doing recently is telling myself I can't eat anything until I drink a couple of glasses of water/fluid before I even think about eating anything. By the time I do that and wait the 30 minutes, I've often been able to forget about the craving or at least substitute something high in protein. You are doing great, Susan, and I'm hoping that you, me and all of us will keep strong, reach goal and use our tool wisely!Even though I hate to hear anyone is frustrated with the rate of loss, it's still nice to know we are not alone in the struggle!
Good Morning all my surgery pals!!!
I lost all I gained last week and a little more. My DH had a talk with me about working so much and not taking care of myself and was astonished when I agreed with him. So I got in 3 days of exercise last week and I'm shooting for 4 this week.
Here are my stats:
Starting weight 298.5
Last week = 173.8
This week = 171.8
Loss this week = 2
Total loss = 126.7
Current BMI = 31.4
Good for all of you getting involved in competitive running or walking. I'm going to try some acupunture on my calf to see if it will alleviate some of the pain. I did go for a bike ride last night which bothered my leg somewhat but not as much as my rear end this morning. LOL
Everyone have a fabulous week.
