Congratulations on being a dumper! I hope to find out some day that I am a dumper too! Did you dump on fat or carbs instead of sugar?
I'm sorry that you had your dumping experience while you were out. It would be bad enough to go through that while you were home.
OH Britt, I am so sorry that happened to you...... Just more reminders that you had surgery and to stay away from those things.....
I got sick off 4 nachos a few weeks back and had never been sick either... I didn't want that to happen again but it was a good reminder that the surgery was still a factor in my life. I also notice lately that I can barely tolerate SF Pudding, it makes my pouch uncomfortable. I am noticing that I am a bit lactose intolerant now, that was never an issue before.....

Yes, THAT was more like big SLAP across my forhead - to remind me!
I am kinda glad that I did dump (as as that may sound) Gives me MORE reasons to AVOID carbs al together!
Weird - for you too - 9 months later - I've seen posts about it happening month & months out! Thanks for sharing your events with me.
hugs,
Britt

Christy, you and I look at this differently. I'm not sorry that happened to her. I say YEAH! She's a dumper and on on carbs--no less! How wonderful! Talk about motivation to keep on the straight and narrow! I wish I would dump on carbs. I would rejoice getting sick on four little nachos. You guys are blessed. I don't seem to have those little reminders.
Britt,
First of all, you look FABULOUS in that pic! Right out of People magazine or a fashion model!!!
I've had several episodes like the one you described and sometimes they seem to be related to sugar alcohols and others carbs. Sometimes I think I eat too fast. Other times I just don't know. Within the past week, I've had numerous weak and dizzy spells where I feel like I'm blacking out. A week or so ago at Gold's after having a fantastic cardio session, I was stretching and started blacking out. I held onto the machine and acted like I was watching tv or something just so no one would know something was wrong! I finally made it to my car and sat in the AC for about 10 minutes while my head was spinning. I honestly think we need even MORE fluids that most people during the heat and humidity! Sometimes I think I can't drink any more but with this heat, I try to force myself! Do you find that going too low on your carbs affects your strength training? I'm keeping my carbs extra low (trying to only eat carbs that contain a decent fiber content) and I'm still able to do heavy weights but when I would do Atkins prior to WLS, I would notice that my weight lifting suffered quickly! I just didn't have the endurance.
Awwww Thanks Cece!
interesting that you have had many similar episodes - I already avoid carbs for the most part and keep 'em limited - Now - i'm being extra cautious. That feeling was scary!!!
I have never noticed anything affecting my strength training.
THANKS for your post!
I normally drink 120-140 ounces that day I drank about 100 - I guess not enough for a long day - in the sun!!!
hugs,
Britt
Britt,
You do drink more that anyone I know!!! That sounds funny, doesn't it?! I mean water! Your reports are one reason I try to drink more and more each day! I've been a big water drinker for years but have to admit that the first couple of months following surgery it was really tough to drink water. It tasted like metal to me but thankfully, I could still eat my shaved ice! At times I even had to drizzle sugar free Kool Aid over that though. It tasted like a Snow Cone.
Maybe your body was so used to the extra fluid that even cutting down by 20 ounces made a difference but I'd keep telling myself that it was the pretzels!!! Seriously, for some reason, I'm unable to eat cereal. Even the high fiber, good cereal. It feels like it gets stuck and I dump - sweat, heart beating fast and hard, etc. So, I stay away from cereal which works for me because I always overate cereal. My portion was always too large. Also, my beloved bagels weren't tolerated after surgery so I'm now able to stop in my favorite coffee shop, walk right by the bagels and get my coffee and sit down and read. Since carbs were my biggest downfall, whether starchy or sugary, I'm SO thankful to have this help. It's getting harder and harder to avoid temptation though.
