Eating during the Heat Wave
Hi Everyone
I don't know about anyone else, but I just can't eat during this heat wave that we have been having here in Central PA. I can't eat because it is way to hot and when I do I feel very sick to my stomach. I ate dinner last night around 6:30pm (by the way it was by birthday) at Red Lobster. Had the spicy grilled shrimp with haddock and grilled pineapple and rice pilaf. I didn't eat the haddock or the rice pilaf. I ate only 4 of the grilled shrimp. Because my new pouch just can't seem to tolerate spicy things. My hubby said I had to eat more, but I just didn't feel like it. I asked for the haddock and remaining shrimp to go and put the pineapple in with it so I could eat it for dinner tonight. However, I just don't feel like eating at all. Even breakfast was cold cereal which I ate like a snack type thing but I didn't eat all of it because of this heat.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Cathy Watson
HMMMMMMM
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I love Red Lobster - I haven't been there in a while maybe 2 years? We have plans to go soon.
Anyway ... You are eating in AC at the resturaunt - do you have AC at home?
Are you keeping up on your liquid intake?
I personally haven't had that - but I'm either in the pool or AC.
KEEPING COOL AND COMFORTABLE!!!
However ... if I wasn't comfortable - i'm sure I wouldn't want to eat either.
Are you uncomforatble with the heat - that you cannot get relief ?
What about a supplementing a protein drink to make sure you get all your protein in on these hot summer days???
Stay cool Cathy!
hugs,
Britt

I wish I had your problem, Cathy. Since I live in Florida I would be a skinny girl!
I hate drinking protein shakes with a passion, but I finally found a way to get my protein shakes down without even realizing that it's a protein shake. I've been making some frozen chocolate banana protein concoctions lately which I think are delicious, and make me feel like I'm eating a serious desert when I have them. Plus it helps me get in my protein while still beating the heat. . The reason I include the instant pudding powder is to act as a suspension agent for the protein (plus it adds a richer chocolate flavor). I include the banana and peanut butter for consistency as well, but also because those two flavors do an excellent job of masking the protein after taste.
Below is the recipe and nutritional info in case anyone's interested.
Ingredient - Serving Size - Quantity/Servings
Banana - 1 medium banana - 1
FF/SF Jello Brand Instant Chocolate Pudding mix (not prepared) - 1/4 package - 2
Peanut Butter - 2 tbs - 1
Protein Powder Mixture (Chocolate Flavored) - 1 scoop - 5
Skim Milk - 1 cup - 6
I mix all the ingredients in a blender (preferably glass****il smooth. I then put the blender with contents into the freezer for half hour increments. After each half hour I take out, scrape down the frozen sides, and re-blend. I continue this until it has a smooth frozen consistency. When that is achieved I divvy up the mixture into solo cups and freeze them with a plastic wrap over them to keep out the frost burn. It makes about 8 servings. They stay good in the freezer (covered) for up to several weeks. When I'm ready to eat one I take it out of the freezer and let it soften up for about 10-15 minutes before eating it.
