Help! We are now at or almost 8 months post op and I wanted to know what we are doing about eating more and more often? I still can't eat alot at a sitting but I am able to eat more often and starting to want carb type snacks...how many calories should we be consuming now, how many grams of protein??? What do you all eat for a carb attack???? I have less than 4 lbs till goal and I really want to get there! Gum helps alot but I don't even know how much we can really have. Advice would be appreciated.

I am anxious to hear the answer to this one.... I too am eating too often, the wrong choices many times and possibly too much sometimes as well.... It is really becoming work now that we are out of the "honeymoon" phase isn't it??? It also doesn't help having all the kiddos out of school for the summer... They snack and I want to snack.... the problem isn't their snacking it is that they don't all snack at the same time... they only get 2 snacks a day, but when the four little ones want snacks at different times that is 8 snacks and I want to snack out of habit when I get them their snack.... I am getting better about getting a s/f popsicle now though.... I am realizing the error of my ways and getting back to basics.... I think it is all about the choices we make and we can't fall back into old habits.... I don't know how much we should be eating though, I may have to call my nut and get some advice on this as well.... Good luck to you. Shawn M.

Hi SHERI I have to make sure I eat Breakfast - lunch and dinner. That's it ... no snacks. I find when I do, I graze :no no: not good for me and my scale I do much better on my 3 meals a day. I've been batteling the CARB MONSTER from day 1 - and Head Hunger too! I have to talk myself through it when the URGES happen and keep myself busy doing something else (organize or clean something in my house - play a game with my kids - blog - read the OH boards - call a friend - drink a big tall glass or two of crystal light) Its hard ... but I feel great once I can get past the urge. (sometimes - i cave in and eat "x") If I do have to snack ... I like WATERMELON (I have it already CUBED up in the refrig for everyone - and me if I need 'something'! I tell you - its hard - Sometimes I struggle minute to minute I chew gum a lot (never heard that you could chew too much???) I also have the NEW SF mento's on occasion. Congrats on being 4 pounds from goal. I do 50 grams of protein - 120 ounces water - about 800-1000 calories hugs, Britt

I wish I could be like that...I don't do well with only 3 meals and being home....I am really trying but it's hard! I do keep cut up fruit on hand and grilled veggies. I am still trying to stick to under 100 calories although I don't record every morsel. I struggle with the water and consider myself lucky to consume 64 oz...i can't imagine having 120oz! Thanks for the tips, I will really take everything into consideration.

Hi Sheri! You are so right about the changes in what and how much we can eat. I am being MORE vigilant now-than ever before. I make sure to have my three meals-even if it's just yogurt for breakfast (heavy breakfasts just are too much for me!). I am also making sure to get ALL my protein or more. Same for water. I had to take a long hard look at my "snacks". I found myself really going for the carbs. I noticed my love for fat free triscuits. Now-there are not "bad"-but I was LOVING them too much! LOL! I promised myself I would toss anything that made me "think" about it like I used to before surgery. So those are GONE! I do have popcorn (half of a single serve bag) almost every day and I sprinkle it with parmesian cheese. I have that snack after dinner-as that is my hardest time of the day for Head Hunger! I try to stay consistent. That seems to be the thing. I am also upping the exercise. I had been quite lax and was sort of saving up the HARD exercise for around this time where the scale is naturally slowing down. Hugs! Therese
