The good and the bad

I had a HUGE WOW moment yesterday at the store with my daughter. We went shopping for pants for her. I found a pair of jeans on the clearance rack and tried them on, thinking they were size 5. Got them on and they were BIG. Looked at the tag and it said size 3! I asked my daughter to look for a size 1, and she exclaimed, "YOU WEAR THE SAME SIZE AS ME???" Uh, I guess I do! So I got a size 1. Tried it on. It FIT! I have to get Henry to take some pics of me in them to post. You are not going to believe it! The other day, we were at the mall, and Henry talked me into rewarding myself with some "higher quality denims" for reaching my weight loss goal and looking so "hot" (his words). So I splurged and got for Seven for All Mankind jeans. I have NEVER spent money like that on jeans ($150!!!!). But boy are they comfortable and I do think I look good. Dang! Now for the the bad. When I was in Las Vegas, I talked to my surgeon and he said I may be a candidate for a revision if I keep losing weight. He has only done 30 revisions out of over 4,000 surgeries. I DON'T want to be number 31. He put me on some digestive enzymes to help me digest and absorb protein and fats better. And got me on immodium to stop the diarrhea (which has been an ongoing problem for over a month). I also take lactaid every time I eat now, and pro-biotics for digestion. He suggested I get some Designer whey and take 2 extra protein shakes a day and add Creatine to it. So I tried that today for the first time and my stomach is SO upset! I don't know if it's the sugar (which only totals about 14 gms. when I mix it with lactaid milk) or what. I only got about 1/3 of it down and my stomach is churning and all gassy. I just wish that would stop. I NEED to find some sort of protein product that I can tolerate. I have to get my calories up and use protein that is pre-digested because even with the enzymes he says I need the extra help to digest the protein. I guess it's on to try different ones now. I'm really discouraged by this. I was counting on the protein shakes to help me. Is anyone still on protein that you enjoy? Any suggestions that may help?

Size 1 designer jeans! I'm glad Henry talked you into splurging on yourself. I'm sure you look absolutely great. I think once you get the wedding behind you this Saturday you will be able to slow down and be able to maintain your weight better. Between your high-paced job, the wedding, traveling, etc. you have been in high gear for quite a while now. I hope you don't have to face a revision but if you do, you will get through it with the same great attitude that you've had through this whole journey. I don't know if these protein shakes are pre-digested but the ones that I enjoy the most are: - Protein Delight Chocolate & Coconut. It taste like an Almond Joy. - Designer Whey Peanut Butter Cup (Yeah, I guess I like candy) - Nectar Cappicinno (I never spell this right)

Kim, I truly hope that you can find a protein that you can tolerate. My sister is having similar results as you. Her weight is borderline underweight and she still continues to lose. I made this easy recipe and it has helped her to slow her loss. She drinks 3 of these per day along with eating what she can. I think it has about 200 or 220 cal per serving. If you are a coffee drinker: Soy Slender Milk, Cappuccino flavor with 1 scoop of Body Fortress Vanilla Protein. Add a serving of any flavored Coffee Creamer liquid and shake. This is easy and yummy. The body fortress protein doesn't have that protein powder smell or taste. It is very palatable and low cost at Wal-Mart. 30 servings for about $15. Or of course you can use any protein that you know you can tolerate. If you are not a coffee drinker try the same thing with the Soy Slender Vanilla or Chocolate. The Soy Slender Milk is usually in the organic food section or in the non-refrigerated milk section of the grocery store. It isn't expensive either and has 4 servings per container. Let me know how it goes. Good Luck! Valorie
