WEIGHT HASN'T MOVED IN OVER 6 WEEKS
Hello fellow November members,
I has WLS on 11/30 and started at 280. I am now stalled at 190-193 and have been there for over 6 weeks. I've experienced stalls in the past but not like this. My goal is 165, which is kindof low as I am 6 ft tall but it seems like whatever I do no more weight will come off for me, any suggestions?

I feel your pain. I have trouble losing too. I finally got the scale to move by severly restricting carbs and adding a second protein shake. I find that I am too active to continue to go on such a low carb regime but I plan on being extremely careful going forward.
I'm also going to start reducing my caffeine intake in case that's been holding the weight on me too. I didn't want to go cold turkey with the caffeine so I will reduce it to one coffee a day within the next two weeks.
Good luck to you. I know it is frustrating.
Debbie,
I think we have all been there and can feel your frustration. I had a 5-6 week plateau early on but haven't really stalled more than a week since. The only suggestion I have is to mix things up a bit. If you have been eating less than 1000 cals per day, try to up it to 1500 or even a bit more. Add a protein supplement or two per day. Exercise 15 or 20 minutes extra and try to drink 128 (1 gal) of water per day. I know this is the same old story you have probably heard 1001 times. It has been told 1001 times because it usually works.
Keep it protein and keep it moving.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Debbie,
I have been stalled too for about the past 6 weeks... I have sat at 193-195 for what feels like forever. I am sooo ready to get into the 180's.... The past two days I have upped my protein and my water intake and stopped the caffeine (didn't know what I was drinking had it). I actually had gone up on my weight a little this past week to 198 and I dropped 2 pounds already with the change.... I won't be satisfied though until I drop below that 193 point.....
I am sure if you really look at what you are eating you will find something that you can modify or change that will help you with that stall. I know I did. I think my biggest problem was that I was not getting enough protein and water in because with the kids out of school life has been hectic and I have not been taking care of me like I should have. Time for a chage!!!!
Good Luck to you. I know you will do it. Stalls are rough, but we can get through them. We are all here for each other and we need the support. Keep us posted on how things go. I hope you break that stall soon.

I have also been stalled. It is very depressing. I have been stalled between 184.5 on a good day -188. I see everyone else's post that had surgery in November and it appears everyone ha**** that 100# mark and boy is that depressing. On a good day I have hit only the 70# mark. I am getting enough protein and have upped my fluid more actually drink about 120 ounces a day. Any help would be appreciated. This is the only support I get is ready the posts.
You cannot compare your weight loss to anyone elses and you can't feel badly that you ONLY lost 70 #....that is incredible! Think about 70 sticks of butter off your body for good. I haven't lost quickly either but slowly and steadily. At this point, I am extremely happy with my progress! You need to dwell on the good and don't stress over what you cannot control.
Hi ladies, I am just coming off a six week plateau myself. Carbs were getting to be too comfortable in my diet so I cut them back to the complex only. I didn't really add or subtract any foods, just changed up the routine a bit, exercise was getting boring so I changed that up too, the reward is my body had to adjust to my current weight (I only have 35 lb to lose to be at goal) and now that it has the scale is moving downward again. Thankfully for me it never moved up during the plateau but you body needs time to adjust and even though I was not losing lbs I was losing inches during this time as I measured and lost a lot in that area. Good luck to all, this is showing us just what type of tool we have and we need to figure out how to use it properly.

I think way more people have plateus than not... The first month or two, I was averaging -5 lbs a week and that set the bar really high... so when it started slowing down to a molasses-in-january-creep (3 to 5 lbs a month) it's so easy to get disappointed... but now I try to keep my eye on the big picture. I've lost 95 lbs since November 14th and you've lost 90 since November 30th... we are pretty much neck-and-neck as they say. Our bodies will adjust at different rates and when I went in for my 6 month checkup, my Surgeon told me people lose a huge percentage the first 6 months, but after that (if you follow the "rules) it still comes off, just slower.
In reality it FEELS so slow just because we got to experience it being so FAST - but pre-surgery, I would have been on cloud 9 if I was steadily losing 5 lbs a month and not feeling even a tiny bit starved or deprived. That's what I try to keep in mind when I step on the scale and it's "only" moved a pound or two...
I hope that helps,
Marilyn
