HI MISS WANDA, I HOPE YOU DO NOT MIND ME STARTING A NEW THREAD ON THIS, SINCE IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OVER CHARGE ISSUE, AND THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON BEING THAT NEVER HAve THESE STORIES BEEN POSTED WITHOUT ITS HELPING MORE THAN ONE PERSON, SO HERE GOES: Wanda: How old is your daughter? Mine is 31. She doesn't have insurance (or money) but she could really benefit from wls. She's been on and off insulin several times. She has really high blood pressure too. She has so many health problems for a young woman. It runs in my family. My mother was thinking of lap band surgery but she couldn't survive a surgery at this point. Sad. Every one of her diseases are obesity related. I wish I had surgery a long time ago but I am glad that I have it now. I'm glad your daughter was able to get hers while she is still young. And it's great that you were able to help her through it since you are an experienced RNY'er! Wanda, my daughter is 31 also! She is a chronic depressive and has been covered within the last 3 years by government health insurance after a long history of mental problems and never being able to hold on to a job for a significant amount of time. This has allowed her to work when she can, and to be ok when she could not.She is a talented, beautiful young lady, and it is my prayer that she will one day see what I see...smile. Her handle is Bellamatrixx on OH, and she will help anyone in anyway she can with their wls. I am happy the government (SSI), helps her, I have worked since I was 12, and continue to at 56. I will have to wor****il I am 67 to recieve social security retirement, by the time I get there, it will probably be until I am 70.. Ok...Olivia (daughter), has NO co-morbidities, but has had a dangerous weight for years, contributing to her depression. She applied for wls a year ago and after following state and government insurance guidelines was declined. She re-applied and fought like a warrior, asking what was missing, what did she have to do... She was finally approved after much effort, and had RNY on 6/13. I have another lady who was declined that I met at surgeons office, I helped her fight, but most importantly, NOT to give up, she was approved this past Friday. They WANT you to give up, this is about living...so please tell family members, friends, to not GIVE UP. This woman became my daughters angel for her wls, so the circle continues and grows. My daughters approval was based on the fact that she could never sustain a weight loss, and she had to document all of this. I have a friend who is fighting for wls now, she has a heart condition, and they tried to use this as a reason why she should not have it. She was cleared by her cardiaologist who stated this was a LIFE SAVING procedure for her. She will win, the hardest thing is keeping her from being dis-heartened, and she is a preacher! Tell your family to fight like HELL Wanda! Your daughter has a right to have wls, it is sad that anyone has to wait to have co-morbidities before they have wls. I am so grateful that my daughter was able to have it before her body broke down like mine. It too me 4 years, a divorce,(ex was against it), and a new perspective on life to get my butt in gear to have wls, the last thing honestly being to KNOW I could live in the recovery of my addiction and give up my "best" friend. I am sorry to hear about your mother Have al avenues been explored? I know a man who did not qualify for RNY, or band due to size and bosy condition,he had the sleeve done, sometimes doctors are not aware of options, and it is always best to get more than one doctors opinion. Please let me know Miss Wanda (a term of endearment), if there is anyway I can help.

Thanks for your post. It sounds as if you are an extremely determined lady! I'm calling on you the next time I need to get something done! My daughter doesn't have any insurance at all. No Medicaid, Medicare, or private insurance. She has three special needs kids and can't work because of it. She is married but his insurance won't cover her. Maybe at some point in the future she can go to work and get insurance that hopefully will pay for wls. As far as my mom goes, she has waited too long. She is not healthy enough to survive any surgery at this point. I love your determined spirit. You even divorced for your surgery! Sounds like nothing was going to get in your way once you made up your mind. Good for you!

OMG Wanda, no person in America should be without health insurance! There *must* be a way. How can his insurance not cover her?? Something is wrong here, Have you visited the insurance forum? Has anyone read his insuranc provisions, yes, leave no stone unturned. I'll wager it is because of pre-existing morbidities, and weight? Also, there were many reasons to divorce, but wls was a major issue. I don't spend my time thinking of him anymore, I am just happy I did not lose my step kids, we are family, and my new grand daughter, my princess is coming over tomorrow, they do not go to his home, he has seen her once in the hospital, and once in a restaurant, I am the blessed one. I have lost 193 pounds as of my last weigh in, and I am surrounded with love, my grand kids are here almost everyday, the 2 boys, they got on his nerves as well as my daughter, who is a total sister to his daughter. Life is so good! My pain is coming under great control from the nerves in my face, and I have to be tested for a tumor, which I do not believe I have, then it is back to work for me in a job I enjoy. I love seeing pics of you and your hubby, you have a good life, and I know you had to work for that. You have a nice body and lose slowly because you have muscle girl! Be blessed, not stressed.
