OT - My Baby is Gone!
Well, today my oldest son left for Army boot camp. He is in Lansing right now and heads out to Ft. Jackson S. Carolina tomorrow. I cried like a baby... but at least I didn't mind being in the pictures for a change... LOL.... Sorry.. I have to laugh or I will be crying all night... He is my first one to "leave the nest", and I can't believe I have to go through this 5 more times.... What am I going to do?!?!?
Keep my son in your prayers that he stays safes, makes it through basic training, cook training and continues to be safe through his army career. I believe that God has a plan for him and this is where he is supposed to be. But, I can't help to cry like a baby and still feel like I am his mommy!
Thanks for all the support!

I feel your pain. It's so hard. My son graduates basic training in July. I'm flying to Oklahoma to be there for him. I'm even taking his girlfriend so he will really be happy with me!
Don't be surprised if you don't hear from him often. They are suppose to get an hour of free time daily but it's spent shining their shoes and stuff like that so it's really not free time. They are exhausted and can barely pick up a pen to write. They get two minute phone calls every once in a while but not often. Mine tried to call me on Mother's day but I missed the call. All we can do is trust that as hard as the process is, it is to their benefit. I wish your son the best. God bless him for serving our country.
Thanks Wanda... My son graduates from basic around the end of August... I plan on attending (as long as my son can pay my way), and his girlfriend is planning on going with me as well. I can't wait to spend some time with her.
I know whenever he does get free time or phone time, it will be spent calling his girlfriend, so I don't expect to hear from him at all... unfortunately. He does NOT write so I know I won't get letters either, but I will get to see him in 9 weeks and I will hold onto that for now....
I am so proud of him...

Shawn,
I will pray for you and your son. My oldest went to basic training at Ft. Jackson, SC two years ago. He is in the reserves and thank God, his unit has not been called active. They will be very busy and completely worn out so, like Wanda said, if you don't hear from him, don't worry. He will get time to write and call eventually. Summer at Ft. Jackson is SWELTERING. I hope your son was in good shape when he left. Even if he was, he will be even better when he finishes. It really changes their physique and their attitudes. Don't worry. They really do take good care of them during this time. He is in God's hands and our prayers.
Hugs,
Valorie
Thanks Valorie!!!!
He was in pretty good shape, but I kept pushing him to work out more because I know how hot and sweltering it can get down south compared to here in Michigan. I am so worried that he won't make it through basic, but I also know that when he puts his mind to something he CAN and WILL do it. If for anything to prove me wrong... LOL....
Thanks again for all the prayers.
