So Sad
Wanda,
Indeed that is a sad situation. My prayers are with you and your family.
I can totally understand your anxiety over your own son. My oldest is in the Army reserves and when he went to boot camp, excuse me, I mean Basic Training, (you will know what I am talking about when you do get to talk to him) I didn't hear from him for about 5 weeks. He, like your son, chose to call his "girlfriend" instead of his Mother as soon as he got the chance. Basic is very hard, they really keep them on track with very little distraction.
Is your son in active service or reserves? It doesn't really matter, either can be sent over to Iraq or any number of other dangerous places. We have to just admire their decisions to serve our country and pray for God to keep them out of harms way.
Thinking of you,
Valorie

You are right. There is no reserve any more is there? The reserves are sent quicker than the active service. That's what happened with these two brothers. The reservist made it to Iraq quicker than the active duty one that was just killed. Jordan chose active duty because he wantd to go, the other brother chose reserves but was shipped out immediately.
Wanda, I am so sorry, I offer heartfelt sympathy. My stepson whom I raised from 7 years old is in the Navy, and has been deployed to Iraq twice, I am close with his real mom, and yes, we pray hard for him. Please know that my church offers prayers for all of our babies over there everyday.
Hugs,
-Linda

Thanks Linda. My step-daughter is in the Navy too. She just got shipped to Japan for two years. We took her out to dinner last week before she left. She cried all the way through it. She did not want to go but I think it will be a positive experience for her. She is worried about missing everybody and being away from home. She is only 21 years old. I think it will be a growing experience for her but I understand her apprehension. Thank you and your church for praying for our military.
Wanda,
My prayers are with your family. My nephew (my brother's oldest son" was killed in Iraq in November, 10 days before my surgery. We flew home from the funeral the day before I had my bypass. My nephew truly believed in what we are fighting for, he felt strongly about being there, and was so proud to be a Marine. He was only 19. My brother is still devastated, he is having such a hard time accepting it, even though, he too, was a Marine. The young people that are fighting every day for our freedom are such a great example for the rest of us. Without men and women like our nephews, this country would not be the same type of place we so take for granted.
I pray every day for our troops, I hope every one else out there can join us in praying for the safety of the men and women there, and for the success of the mission they are fighting for.
God Bless,
Sandy

There is just way too many stories like that. I'm sorry about your nephew. So close to your surgery too. I bet that was hard.
