Let's tallk snacks
What do you eat for a snack that is healthy and not a carb or sugary? I need some fresh ideas to steer me away from chips and salsa (not that I eat a lot but it is something I snack on), and ice cream which again I only have a little of, because I crave it but I always feel yucky if I eat it so I am trying NOT to eat it.
I would love to hear how some of you are battling the snack demon.....
I'm from the December board but I post here some too. If I am really craving a snack I usually go for a small handful of nuts, especially if I want the crunch or a pickle. Also beef jerky and light mozz cheesesticks. I did buy a snow cone machine a while back at walmart, great for crunch and no calories if you use the SF syrups they also sell! It's hard to not "snack" but I really try to plan all my meals out ahead of time and stick with that. Oh and I will do a SF popscickle or a NAS fudgesickle if I am having a sweet craving or a coffee mixed with some milk, like 4 oz, and SF syrups for a very low calorie treat. Hope this helps.
I love the sugar free puddings still, but something I have really liked & this sounds weird but my therapist suggested it..baby carrots & mustard. Instead of dipping them into ranch dressing. Its really good & you cant really eat but about 5 or 6, so its not enough carbs to worry about. I really like it & its good & crunchy! I also like very cold cubes of watermelon too, like someone else said.
Good Luck!
Hmm... Snacks
I just bought some Proti snacks from my surgeon that have 15 g. of protein and 120 calories. I really like them if I have the calories - which I usually do.
I have been eating cherries for snacks - love them. Really the only snack I do that is not protein based.
Soy Chrisps - or some kind of soy snack I can by at Wal Mart.
Can't think of anything else.
Good luck and Good thread - nice to get food ideas from others.
I found a good soy chip with 12 gms of protein.
I also use 60 calorie puddings...mmm
I love fresh Strawberries
Dannon lite snd fit yougurt
Love salsa, and picante....good 4 u 2
Nuts...
Popcorn 100 cal bags
Jello special recipe with cottage cheese and walnuts added and strawberries
Orange slices...eat no membrane
All I can think of now..
Those are all really good ideas. Ive been really wary of fruit tho because of dumping syndrome. My surgeon says to not go over 6 grams of sugar. Watermelon is high in fructose so Im a little scared to try... Any idea how many grams of sugar in watermelon or grapes for the serving youre having? That sounds so yummy.
I don't eat grapes, nor any melons, Brit does, and I think I have a site that will tell you the content of anything.http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/23558.html
Good luck.
