When I read your list, the thing that I was shocked about is the difference in protein in the fish. Halibut has 26 grams, salmon only 17, and haddock on 16. I never knew there was such a difference.

Wanda, how many grams of protein do you aim for a day, I know you are active, I am not so active, so I take the low end of limits given to me by my nut, her range being 70-100 gms, I struggle with 70. I excercise about an hour, at least 5 times a week.

You are most welcome, and so nice to meet you. Come here often? How are things going for you? I have trouble meeting my proteins, my NUT only allows me one protein drink a day. I am posting this on my fridge...LOL!

Hi Linda, Yes, I do come here often. Sometimes I tend to be more of a lurker than a poster but I check the site several times a day to see what is going on. I am not having any issues, never have other than some minor hair loss. Weight Loss is somewhat slow now but I am within 8 lbs of my ultimate goal, I just passed my initial goal of 150 last week when I got down to 148. I started at 273 lbs-2 weeks prior to surgery and 263 lbs on the day of surgery. I don't really have any trouble getting my protein in, I drink one and a half Isopure's a day and each has 40 grams of protein. On top of that, I am usually pretty good about getting another 30 grams plus a day. Isopure is the only protein I can stand to drink, in fact I like it now. Sometimes I supplement with the protein bullets, Special K High Protein Cereal and a few other protein snacks like oatmeal raisin cookies that my surgeon stocks and protein pretzels. I ordered the sample box that Wanda told us about before, I am just waiting for it to arrive. I find that I tend to lose better when I drink the 1/2 Isopure shortly before going to bed (giving me a quick 20 gram boost). Also, I have to get enough sleep or I will not lose. I never would have believed it before but protein is so important. Best of luck, I hope your post helps you get the protein you need. Hugs, Christy

Thank you Christy, and congratulations on your success. I think my problem is getting better. I have lost 165 pounds, and seem to be losing at a study rate although I have to be careful because of a new med I am on. I too ordered the packet Wanda told us about and I am awaiting it most anxiously. I tasted Isopure and I must say its not for me. I do like Achiev One and just brought home 2 cases of it yesterday. I also found some great soy chips with protein added, 12 gms a serving, and it is a decent amount, had some with a little guac...mmm. I have a way to go, my doctor did not set a goal weight for me. I am happy to hear you had no problems. To be honest, if I could just live off shakes, which I make myself, adding Beneprotein, the only protein I have been able to stomach, and never deal with food again, I would be a happy camper...LOL. However, I must listen to my doctor and NUT, she says to deal with food. She says she has found that the people who do not deal with food, are the ones most likely to gain the weight back, well, thats enough for me to follow her orders. Thank you for sharing with me...smile.

I am an isopure fan as well. Although I only drink one a day. I usually get between 70 and 80 g of protein a day. I do track everything I eat! If you like the Achieve one have you tried the Extreme Smoothie - I never had and I bought one this weekend at the urging of another patient. I got the Praline Cream one. It was pretty good. A little too sweet for me to want all the time but it seemed a bit similar to the Achieve one. It had 160 cal, 35 g protien. I have been going to a therapist since before my surgery to help me "deal" with food! I also read about compulsive/emotional eating issues. Helps me stay focused.

Good for you, I am well tuned into the emotional eating. I mix AchievOne with milk and beneprotein, so I don't drink it straight. My eating is going well.
