Please help - hernia problem
Sorry I haven't been around much, I had a great vacation a few weeks ago, and the bad news is - yesterday I had to go to the ER because of a sharp pain on the left side under the ribs. After many hours and sonograms and Cat scans, I have a umbilical hernia. It was probably caused by WLS and it hurts like you know what. I will probably need surgery to repair it. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks, Linda

Oh, Linda...I'm so sorry. I can't imagine another abdominal surgery like that so soon after wls. I don't know anything about hernia repair. I hope it works out some how so that you don't need surgery after all. Post your question on the main board. I'm sure someone can give you info.
Hello. I had an incisional hernia repaired on 5/9. Mine was on my left side where the tube was put after surgery. They were able to repair mine with stiches inside and did not have to use the mesh. The recovery time is not as long as the WLS but I thought it hurt worse than the WLS. (Sorry to tell you that!) The first 2 couple of days I was pretty sore. After that it got a little better each day. I only took 4 days off work but had the weekend in there also. So about 5-6 days. I know that before and after surgery ice packs really helped. Tylenol is the only thing that my Dr would allow me to take. After surgery they gave me a prescription for Tylenol with Codeine. That's about it. Good luck!

Hi Linda: I just found your post and am sorry about the hernia....I was in the ER last week, I had low blood count and anemia and an ulcer! I had to have 3 units of blood transfusion and now I'm on 150 mg. of iron and 40 mg. of nexium! I knew that my excellent recovery was too good to be true! I hope your pain will be alleviated soon, keep me informed!
