Fruits and Veggies anyone?
I have to say that I don't eat fruit anymore...like...at all...and rarely have veggies except for a small salad once in a while or some creamed spinach in a Lean Cuisne. Do you guys eat your fruits and veggies? Are they "necessary" since we take all of the daily vitamins? Am I missing out on something that I really need?
Points to ponder...
Hugs...

I know what you mean. After we get our protein in, there is no room for fruits or veggies. I asked my doctor if I could get my protein source from supplements between meals so I can eat vegetables at my meal. He said that I could do that, but I haven't really started that yet. I still eat mostly protein at meals.
Berries are low in carbs and are great added to yougurt. Pears are the fruit with the highest fiber content. A lot of the other fruits have too high of a sugar content. I feel slightly sick every time I eat a banana. I was wondering if it might be a slight case of dumping. Since it happens every time I think there is a direct connection.
I still eat veggies alot. and maybe I do it the wrong way, but I eat them raw with some ranch. I eat ranch and sour cream and all kinds of stuff but I think it's because I still only eat 1/4 to a 1/2 cup now. I don't know if I probably should, but my body tells me it's okay by still losing weight, and that it doesn't hurt.
I can eat everything but (and not that I've tried fast food places) but nothing absolutely nothing from mcdonalds. I can't eat nachos from taco bell, i only get the pintos and cheese and a mexi melt, and I can't even fini**** after two servings. I eat chicken thats bbq'd in foil with moisture (easier to get down) i don't eat steak, i can eat fish, i can drink diet soda, i drink gatorade instead of water. There's so much still that I can eat, but I just don't get enough in to make calories I'm not already burning.
Anyway, I know you probably didn't want to know all that, but I can say I eat minimal fruits now. I can't eat raisins, I haven't tried grapes, the docs said shouldn't. I can eat a apple wedge, don't really like the feeling of oranges, eat honeydew, watermelon and sometimes cantalope. other than that, nothing. fruits are rare for me.
My NUT says I *must* eat good carbs, that they burn the fat. I can NOT drink fruit juice per orders, but she says it is good to eat oranges, if I crave orange juice, which I do.I have to avoid the membrane part. So yes, must squeeze in GOOD carbs, like green leafy veggies, tomatos, peppers, like the green, yellow, and red. Learned from experience green peppers are put . So, even if I have to eat as a roll-up..like protein using piece of romaine lettuce like bread, and including tomato, I try and get them in. Still, not as many as she would like...100 gms a day, but do my best. I do notice when and if I skip them, weight loss slows for me. I fight to get protein high also. I am going in search of protein water today, hear Stackers makes some with no calories. So yeah, berries are GREAT, and green veggies are SO low in calories...so squeeze I do. I add berries, any kind to my shake. I am only allowed one shake a day, so am happy green is lean. Take care guys!
-165 pounds as of this morning.
This is actually a two part response...The first bit is for Linda...just wanted to let you know that anything that has protien in it will have calories...it's pysiologically impossible to have protien and zero calories. For every gram of protien there are 4 calories. But I was just thinking perhaps you meant 0 carbs. Anyway just wanted to tell you that so you don't start eating something that either has calories or no protien.
The second part is to answer the orginal thread. I crave fruits and veggies. I can't really do oranges or bananas...I think too much sugar for me but I can do everything else that I've tried so far. And I've not had any problems with veggies except I get a little more gas than usual with raw veggies. I think we should definitely be eating fruits and veggies, it's much better to get vitamins from their natural source than just depending on supplements. Our bodies just won't use those as effeciently. I try to have veggies with most meals. But I supplement my protien with shakes so I am not trying to get all my protien in what I eat. Probably the above statement would be true for me too so I guess mix and match might be a good plan.

Hi Corrina I have not found the water yet, got the info off BAF and it said O carbs, is water, not food so I will let you know. Source is reliable, we shall see. I do not eat high carbs, no bananas, apples, lotsa berries, no melons.. I eat green, yellow, and red, carbs..the good stuff...I am limited to one protien shake, and I get rest of protein from food...so far..so good for me. I do use Beneprotein in shakes to make higher protein, is the only protein powder I use.I guess all roads lead to Rome. For me, my weight loss stops if I skip Good carbs. I hope I find that darn water soon!
Will check website and get back to ya, if they have a protein water with NO carbs...I will be happy camper.
