HI everyone How has your first 6 months been?
Hi Everyone,
My question is, "How has the first 6 months been?"
I have lost 94 pounds, I feel great, I don't mind the heat nearly as bad as I did, I have more confidence in myself,(enough that I got a new job) and over all I would do it again and recommend the procedure to anyone who asks me.
Now it's your turn!! "How has the first 6 months been?"
Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend, I look forward to hearing your responses.

We share surgery dates! Sounds like you are doing great! I have lost 83 pounds, lots more energy, have been doing great. Only problem, can't eat meat, makes me but it is a small price to pay, and I would do it again in a minute!
Looking forward to summer and the swimming pool for the first time in years.

Sandy,
Hello Twin....
Congrats on the 83 pounds lost!! Don't you just love being able to move? It's great!
I understand about the meat thing too. I have problems with chicken. If it's dry I can't eat it. Try making sure the meat is moist, I use marinades. You can also try slowing down a lot when eating meat. I tried steak for the first time on the 20th, for my 6 month anniversary since surgery. OMG was it good!! But I had to eat it slow, chew, chew, chew, swallow....eat a bite of something else.....we had califlower & broccoli mixed cooked well done. I put the fork down waited a minute and then had another bite, it was so good. I didn't mind chewing forever, because I was savoring every bite.
Wish I could go to the pool. That will be in another year or two. I will have to have a tummy tuck before I try a bathing suit. My tummy hangs half way down my leg now, and the more I lose the lower I hang. Oh well I can live with it.
Take care and keep up the continued success!! Keep in touch.
Sheryl

I've lost 77 pounds and gained a life. In the past six months I've gone from a size 22 to a size 8 (even 1 pair of size 6!) I fit in the airplane seat with room to spare. I don't snore anymore! I can wear younger styles of clothes. I can dry my clothes in the dryer now and not worry about them "shrinking". I look at least 5 years younger, if not more. People ask my husband if I'm his daughter--and there is only 3 years difference in our age! I just hiked in the Rocky Mountains. When everybody else was exhausted I was feeling great! I went swimming and jet sking and wore a swim suit in public for the first time in years. I flew in a tiny prop plane through the Grand Canyon and hiked around the cliffs and went on the glass skywalk. I have lots of plans for a great summer. My husband tells me at least ten times a day how cute he thinks I am. (He used to tell me I was beautiful--I'm not sure how I became cute instead!?)
I can't change the past, but I am enjoying the present and I have hope again for a great future.
Wanda,
Congrats on the success!! A solid size 8 I have never worn a size 8 in my life. I went from a child's size 14 to a women's size 14. I bet you have a wonderful time shopping for clothes!!
And I think it's wonderful that your husband says your cute. I can tell you the difference. Beautiful is... flowers, jewelery, a painting is beautiful. Cute is.... Puppies, kittens, a child. The difference is beautiful is pretty but not active, cute is pretty and active/bubbly. At least that's how I see it!!! I would love it if my husband called me cute! Heck I would settle for beautiful. LOL
Sounds like you had a wonderful time at the grand canyon. One day I hope to travel to the mid west and see the sites. When I am smaller and plane travel isn't such a scare to me. I heard the seats are small, and I am not small enough for that yet. Maybe in another year or so.
Take care, I wish you continued success and keep up the good work. A size 8, WOW!

Hello everyone I just discovered this board, I hang out mostly on the men's board. I think this is cool being able to read and share stories with people who have had surgery around the same time. My first 6 months have been amazing. I have had a few setbacks but still managed to lose 151 pounds, dropping below the 400 pound mark on my 6 month anniversary at 399, and now down to 393. Best of luck to everyone.

Alan,
Congratulation on your success!! Wow 151 pounds!! I am so happy for you. I am happy for me too! It wasn't easy to take the step that we have chosen but I am sure glad we did.
What kind of set backs have you had? They thought I had a stricture, but I didn't I was just eating way to fast.
I saw on your web page that you received your OH Support Group Leader certificate, Congratulations!! That is also a Great accomplishment! You should be proud of yourself, not only are you helping yourself but now you can help others as well.
I see you are originally from PA. I live in Abbottstown, PA, about 20 minutes west of York. I know all about the potatoes and meat thing. That's all I grew up on. It's funny I didn't eat salad until I was in high school, and I eat them every day now. I love salad, it's my favorite food. Veggies are my friend.
I hope you stay in touch. I hope you reach your goal, you have done wonderful so far!
Take care,
Sheryl

Hi Sheryl,
The past 6 months have been wonderful!!!
I personally feel that its easier now - I am in a good routine with the gym and eating right.
I am 80.5 pounds lighter and 46" smaller I went from a tight size 22 to an 8/10 that just AMAZES me.
I am a better Mom, Wife, friend, a better - HAPPIER - HEALTHIER "ME"
I play with my kids instead of jus****ching them. I run after them and swing on the swings with them ... they are loving their new, active MOMMY.
My husband has been so supportive and encouraging - as have my family and friends. I am truly BLESSED!!!
my b-12 was a little low so I am geeting shots and taking pills to supplement it ... but other than that I have had no complications "thank God"
This was one of the best dicisions that I have made in life!!!
hugs,
Britt
First of all, I am thrilled to get to be part of this thread! SIX MONTHS??? ME??!! LOL!
What a blessing and what a wild ride. It has been worth every moment. I did go through some depression-I think that is normal.
I do pretty well with what I can tolerate for food and protein. I have yet to get sick from eating-and I know I am LUCKY! I just keep trying to do the right thing each day. It's always a choice-for each and every day.
I also keep a You Tube video blog-for many months now. It helps to share what it has been like and where I am going.
I am currently dealing with weaning off of the pain medication I was on since pre-surgery and that part isn't fun, but it's something that must be dealt with. Regardless-each day is HONESTLY a new joy for me. I can MOVE-I can stand and I can walk. I am so glad we all are able to share this journey!
Hugs!
