The rules are pretty clear about not drinking and eating at the same time. My lunch today is Progresso Roasted Chicken soup. It's half broth and half solids. Iin't that pretty much the same thing as eating and drinking at the same time?

How funny,...I've wondered that too when ever I've had soup or cereal or anything is is partially liquid. I never have managed to get back to my nutritionist but when I do I'll have to ask her. Corinna Q

Hi Wanda, Yes, you are right! As you know the reason we have to wait to drink is so the food stays in our pouch longer "if" we drink when we eat it would push the food out faster allowing us to eat more / taking in more calories. My surgeon and NUT suggest we stay away from soups as meals ... because of this. hugs, Britt

I must confess, I have always drank with my meals. I try not to drink much but I still drink, usually my isopure which is full of protein. My surgeon and NUT suggest soups and I always wondered why they would allow soups but no drinking. I guess the only difference is the broth does contain nutrients and are usually low in calories.
