Hernia Symptoms?

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me how to tell if you have a hernia? I have this stabbing pain just below my right rib cage and it hurts really bad when I bend over or when I lift something heaving. It also hurts if I press on my belly in that area. I have never had a pain like this and this is the only thing I can think that it could be. What else could be wrong? I do plan on calling my surgeon's office tomorrow so I can see what they think, but I just wanted to get some input tonight. Thanks for listening to me babble.... Shawn M.

I've been wondering the same thing myself. But mine doesn't have pain. I have a spot under one of my incisions that is squishy and pops up when I tighten my stomach. I SO hope mine isn't one that will need anything done to it. It won't be covered because I'm a self-pay. I hope you get to the bottom of it. Let us know what your doc says.

Shawn, Did you call your surgeon? I have various funny little feelings or pressure every once in a while but nothing I've been concerned about yet. Let us know what you find out and I hope it is nothing! I know hernias are fairly common but I'm hoping whatever you are feeling is gone and won't come back! CeCe
