Can you overdose on Vitamins?

I was just wondering how much is too much? I seem to be getting in HUGE amounts of B vitamins. Between my multi vitamin and some of the waters I drink on a daily basis, I seem to be getting in about 10,000 times the daily requirements. Is this bad for you in any way? Val

You can over dose on fat soluable vitamins which are vitamins A D E and K, or rather they can be come toxic in your body if you take too much of them. Fortunately B vitamins are water soluable so whatever you don't use are excreted. My surgeon also requires very high amounts of B vitamins. This might be too much information but my pee is always bright orange in the morning because of the B vitamins I take at night so it seems pretty obvious that what isn't getting used is leaving my body. Unless you start feeling badly I would keep doing what your surgeon tells you and trust that he knows how much would be too much. If you google B vitamins you'll get all kinds of information on what they do for you and and any possible effects of taking high dosages of them. Corinna Q

Val, I just got the results from my upcoming 6 month's checkup blood work and my B Vitamin levels were 2000+!!!!! If I recall, the range was something like 200-900 so 2000+ is HIGH but like the previous post said, it isn't dangerous! I'll just be saving some money by not taking as much! CeCe

Thanks guys...appreciate the info. I am going to keep taking everything just like I have been. I like my energy level and wouldn't want it to go down any. I will go have labs probably next week in preparation for my 6 month post op visit. Will see what they say my levels are. Val
