I've only lost one pound so far in April. That's just insane!

I feel you Wanda. I had about 3 weeks of nothing...nada...zip. Now this past week I have lost about 7 lbs. Hang in there. I know it is hard when the scale doesn't move. Speeking of scales...I bought a new one yesterday after having my old one for at least 15 years. The old one was only suppose to go to 240 lbs...but has been weighing me all the way up to 349! I think the "strain guage" was strained way past the breaking point and no way could be accurate. I like the new scale...it says I am down 3 more lbs this moring!

Seven pounds in a week?! I've never done that--ever. But I would love it. Have you seen the scales on thecompetitiveedge.com? They measure percentage of body fat, etc. I wouldn't mind the scale not moving if I could see that my body fat has decreased and muscle weight has increased. They are pricey but I am tempted.

I haven't seen that particular scale but Wally World has several models that calculate body fat and even hydration. I chose a simple Weigh****chers model that reads out in 2 thenths of a lb increments. I may think about a more sophisticated model after I have lost more weight. I am more into pounds right now. I added 2 protein drinks back into my daily plan. It seems to be working. 7 lbs last week. Of course, it was the perfect week for me. I always lose only 1 or 2 weeks per month. The week before my monthly and the week of I usaully see a gain then the week after is losing what was gained. I have lost as much as 13 lbs in the one good week before... Vicious cyle....Does everyone see this type of pattern? I know I can't be the only one. One thing this board has taught me is not to think you are alone because there is always someone else (or a lot of people) in the same situation experiencing the same thing. Val

Wanda, I feel your frustration!!! I've been there and so have most of us! Aren't you glad you have this place to vent?! April has been very good to me, I must say! Other than November and December, I've lost more weight this month since surgery. The only change I've made is drinking more protein. I try to have my yogurt with protein powder in the morning and 2 shakes. I was trying to get all my protein in with food for a while but my weight loss was really stalling. I only lost 5.5 pounds in January. My only advice would be trying to get even more protein in and keeping up with the water! This too shall pass!! CeCe

What did you increase your protein to? I'm getting in 80-110 grams per day.

Wanda, Well, if you're getting 80-110 grams a days, I guess you can't increase it too much, huh? Who knows why we stall at times! Is it just to frustrate us?! I think the hardest thing to do at times like these is to remain calm and know it will pass. That's a lesson I never seemed to learn when I was losing weight prior to surgery and is still such a struggle for me now. I always felt like it was a personal failure when I stalled and instead of working my program, I would eat more out of frustration and gain even more. It was a vicious cycle. Now I'm doing my best to stay positive and follow the WLS rules when stalled. I seem to do that for a time but if the stall goes on too long, I start thinking all the negatives again! So, Wanda, try to stay positive! As I said, this too shall pass! Let us know when it does!!! CeCe

One other thought to keep in mind, you may not be losing pounds this month but you still may be losing inches. I hope that is the case for you. HUGS
