Hi. This is my first post and I don't know if anyone can help me. I am 5 months post-op and at a weight standstill. I have lost 55 lbs which is half of what I need to lose. Is my system trying to adjust to that large of a loss in a short period of time?

Unfortunately all of us will experience plateaus. Sometimes they last a week sometimes they last a month or more. I've recently hit my first plateau and it does suck to see the scale standing still. So I've taken a look at what I'm eating and realized I had quit drinking enough water and was taking in too many carbs so I'm watching those things more carefully and hopefully it will jump start the loosing again. Check your protien intake, supplements, water, carbs, fats... it's easy to forget some of these things and they can cause stalls. But most likely your body is just resting for a bit. You'd also be surprised to learn that often when you don't loose weight you do loose inches. I wouldn't be too worried unless you've gone completely off track with your food choices and such. You've done great so far...keep up the good work! Corinna Q

Toni, You didn't mention how long your scale has been "stubborn" but I agree with what others have said! Mine will go up and down a pound, two or even three pounds for a week or so and then I'll have a good drop again. I know some people have continued to lose without those "blips" but I've had them from the start! Just keep doing what you know you're supposed to do! CeCe
