Major Depression....
I am at a complete loss. I have ignored the boards for 2 months now, because I get thoroughly depressed reading all of your success stories (I know how sad but its true). My surgery date was Nov 27 & have only lost 35 lbs to date. The last month I have not lost 1 lb. I exercise at least 45 minutes/day 5-6 x's/week. Please don't let me fail again. Why me? I have not been sleeping well to make matters worse. You all should be so proud of yourselves (Down 60-100 lbs). Wow. Then there is me only 35lbs.
I started at 261 & am down to 226. Its really hard when I hardly ever get compliments for the weight I have lost. Other than if I haven't seen someone for some time. I know I know we did this for ourselves. But it is nice to hear some positive words of encouragement to make us feel good.
I seriously think the doctor made a mistake & didn't make my pouch small enough. Thanks for listening.
Hi Holly,
I am glad to see that you posted. I too would be frustrated with a 35 pound weight loss 5 months out. I feel like I am a slow looser at 66 pounds 5 months out compared to others. So I can relate --- But, I am thrilled with my weight loss and happy the scale is going down.
I see you work out 5 to 6 x a week. Bravo to you. Are you working out in your target heart range? That can make a huge difference.
I work out daily and my NUT upped my water to 80 ounces. How much are you getting in?
Have you tracked your daily food intake on WWW.FITDAY.COM you may be surprised that you are eating to much, fat, carbs or taking in too many or not enough calories.
My meals are 3 ounces- Breakfast - lunch - dinner PROTEIN protein protein. I get in 50 grams per day. I try to avoid snacks.
SAMPLE MENU
EGG WHITES AND CHEESE - B
CHICKEN SALAD - L
FISH - D
Are you getting in all of your vitamins and supplements?
If you are following all of the rules. Then I would contact your surgeon and express your concerns.
What has your surgeon said regarding your weight loss so far?
Have you met with your NUT to dicuss any of this?
I feel for you and pray you get some answers soon. Hang in there and keep us posted.
Hugs,
Britt

I agree with Britt's advice. Also, I had a few days when I wasn't careful enough and gained 2.5 pounds because of it. You didn't mention if you count calories, protein, or carbs. For me--I have to do that or I stray. When we feel like we are failing, the natural reaction is to isolate. But don't let yourself do that! Now is the time that you need to reach out and get very involved in this board. We want all of us to succeed! Nobody should get left behind in our journey to a better life. It sounds like you are doing good with the exercise. Post what you ate today--be brutally honest--and we will help you take a look at it and see if we can make any recommendations for you. Other than that I would immediately make an appointment with your doctor and nut. They want to help you succeed too. Bringing the problem out in the open is your first step to a resolution.
Holly,
Did you have RNY or a lapband? From what I've heard, people with lapbands may not lose as much at first because adjustments have to be made. If it's RNY, I sympathize because I know it must be frustrating. I wonder if being stressed out about the lack of weight loss is slowing you down at all? And, do you know if any of your medications slow down weight loss? I remember reading a weight loss book once and realizing I was taking almost all the meds that they said would slow down weight loss! I notice you have or did have PCOS. I've had a hysterectomy so I don't know much about that but doesn't that also slow down weight loss? If so, that's is an extra obstacle BUT it doesn't mean you won't lose! YOU ARE LOSING! When I get frustrated with my weight loss, my husband always asks me how much I would have lost by now without the surgery. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you have a big scale drop and your mood is lifted! That darned Scale Monster shouldn't be able to influence our moods like it does!! Good luck!
Ok, here is what I have had to eat/drink today:
B-3 cups of decaf coffee with 1 scoop of cappucino protein (14gm)
- 2 slices of cheese (the precut cracker slices)
L-5 low fat triscuts with 5 slices of precut cheese slices
1 sugar free fudgsicle
D-1 packet of weight control oatmeal (NUT recommended)
1 sugar free popsicle
8 oz of smoothie (1/4 cup of dannon fit vanilla yogurt, 1/3 c frozen raspberries, splenda, 1/3 c skim milk, 2 scoops of any whey protein (34 gm)
2 childrens multi chewable vitamins
1/2 dropper of liquid b-12 (was low on my last blood test)
3 9 oz pure life water with crystal light & liquid protein (15 gm)
I really don't count calories anymore. I guess I need to start doing that again. I just pay attention to my protein gms (need 70 per surgeon/nut).
Yes, I still struggle with PCOS every day. I specifically asked before my surgery even though with PCOS this surgery will still help me right? The surgeon said without a doubt yes & that he has had other successful patients with PCOS have the surgery & lose their weight.
Thanks again for the support! I truly do need it right now. Also, my last appt with the surgeon/nut with regards to weightloss, they both said I should be happy with a 6lb weight loss/mo. Are they crazy 6x12mo's only =72 lbs for the year. That is not going to get me to a 100 lb weightloss goal. I have been so stressing on this it can't seem to help me with the added stress & lack of sleep.
Holly
You sound like a lightweight,I am willng to bet you are firmer than most, definitely more than myself.
I have lost 134 pounds but still have 100 to go! You exercise a lot,it makes for good muscle build.
It may take you longer to lose, but I envy the amount of exercise you do and wish I could.
I hear tell your body gets used to exercise, do you vary it?
You are 40 pounds within my goal weight, I am 5 feet 10.Keep going, I bet you are gonna have a BODACIOUS body!
