Less than 10 to goal and getting nervous
Hi all,
I am coming up on my 5 month anniversary (4/15) and as of today I'm down 68 pounds. I went in to this a lightweight, needing to lose 77-80 lbs. I am now 9 lbs. away from my stated goal of 125 lbs. I have been to several websites to help me calculate my goal weight (ideal weight), and I'm in the range with 125. Some say I can go as low as 110 with a small frame. Funny I never thought of myself as having a small frame, lol, but according to measurements I guess I do.
I'm 5'4", but have scoliosis, so I really have the frame of a 5'6" person. I've only plugged in 5'4" into the calculators.
My nervousness has to do with wondering if I am going to lose too much weight. I am prepared to go a bit low and then bounce back up once I stabilize. But I'm only out 5 months and was told the losing period is anywhere from 18 to 24 months. I've gone from a size 18W to a loose size 8.
I am so thrilled with my success, but as the weight just keeps coming off, I am starting to worry. It seems like it is not slowing down. I've still been losing over 10 lbs. a month. Will I shrivel up and blow away?

We are living in different worlds right now. I'm worried about gaining all of my weight back and you are worried about wasting away! But, I'm sure your body will stop when it feels that it hit the right weight. Our bodies always seem to know best when we don't mess things up. You probably will drop lower than your goal, then you can climb back up over time. You are doing great.
Thanks Wanda. I have flip flopped on my feelings about this along my journey. Every time I'd stall I would think, I'm never going to get to my goal, even by my wedding (which wouldn't have been all that bad). But now that I'm closing in on the number, I worry that I might be one to need a revision later on down the line. I don't want to do that!
Kim, you have done an awesome job on your weight loss. Now you will have to really make sure you are getting enough calories from healthy foods to get to a maintanence phase. With 10 lbs left to lose, you probably should start upping your food intake till you see the weight loss level out. My sister, also named Kim, had surgery 9 months ago and she is very close to goal and still loosing like crazy fast. She is trying to up her calories in a healthy way to get the weight loss to slow down. Unfortunately she will have to pay as much attention to eating enough as she diid to not eating too much. How ironic is that?
Kim,
Congrats, you've done a great job ! I think your feelings about loosing too much are normal. Sometimes I find myself thinking that way also. I think what happens if once I reach goal, I can't stop and just keep loosing. Then, I'll go a few days without any weight loss and start to worry that I'm not going to loose any more weight at all.
It's such a roller coaster of different emotions. But, I truly think our bodies will know when to stop.

Hi Kim,
From what I hear from others - your body will know when its at a good weight for you. If you notice you are coming close to falling below "normal" BMI you may have to up your calories and find the daily number that helps you maintain. I am sure your NUT can help you with that.
CONGRATS!!!
YOU must be soooooo EXCITED BEING SO CLOSE TO GOAL!
YIPPEE FOR YOU,
Britt
Well according to the charts, I can lose another 17 lbs. and still be within the normal range. That helps me deal. Although I can't imagine what I would look like then. Sounds really skinny to me. Though when I got married the first time, I was 11 lbs. under THAT! In high school I used to feel good in around 115-118. I'm currently at 134.
