for those stuggling to meet daily protein. or anyoe that wants to try something new.
Just wanted to share what I've found.
There is a shake by optimum nutrition called "pro complex" augmented protein system. It comes in a huge plastic jar from gnc and it's 69.99 for 28 servings.
calories: 260
total fat: 2g
total carbs: 6g
Protein: 55g
Sugars: 2g.
They have rocky road, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. I got the rocky road about a 2 weeks ago, and I love it.
Now those nutritional facts are only for the power itself. If you can drink milk, skim milk will add 11g of protein, 13g of sugar. So if you're tall like me and you need more than 60g of protein a day, this is the best tastiest shake I know of.
I know its about time for all your hair to fall out, and since I didn't get my first 4 months of protein, thats where I'm at now.
I swear to you it tastes great. The best protein I've had in a long time besides steak before bypass. Anyway, gnc has got this thing that if you don't like the flavor, you can always return it for a different flavor. I have rocky road and its pretty damn good.
anyway, there you go. try it, i promise you'll like it.
I read in Flex (a weight lifter magazine) that we can't absorb over 30 grams of protein at one time. There's various types of protein too depending on what you are trying to achieve. I don't know how accurate that information is. I'm currently using GNC 100% Whey protein, 6 lb container, 87 servings, 130 calories with 20 grams protein per serving. I mix it with about 12 to 16 oz of skim milk and get a little extra protein (Aprox 30 grams total per serving). I also add 2 equals for taste. I drink two servings per day. Average price is $43.99. I use my Gold Card for 20% off (well worth the cost of the card over the year). If we can absorb all 55 grams of protein and the additional protein from the skim milk, "Pro Complex" is a good deal. (Plus the good taste is a bonus). I'm curious to know how much protein we can actually absorb per serving? I bet there's a forum here on OH with some experts. I would like to try a new flavor protein, so I will give "Pro complex" a try. The GNC rep recommends it too. Thanks for the recommendation. OH BTW, you lost 103lbs, that is awesome!! Keep up the hard work, you look great. Michael
